Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears may have been sworn rivals for the longest time, however The Voice star has taken the high road and praised her former Mickey Mouse Club co-star in a new interview.

The ladies both launched their pop career at around the same time over a decade ago and now they both judge on rival reality TV shows.

However, in a chat on TV show “Extra” Christina was very complimentary about Spears, who is sitting on the X Factor panel this year alongside Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid.

The ‘Moves Like Jagger’ singer said:

“Britney’s so talented, I mean, she’s a pro. She’s been at it for a number of years now. We did grow up together, basically. It’s actually cool that these strong women are joining the club and they’re going to have fun.”

Aguilera was just as positive when asked about Mariah Carey becoming an “American Idol” judge. She added:

“I just found out about it last night. The news is fresh. I love how all these artists are coming together from all the experience that we’ve had, and we’re able to take that, and sort of feed this new wave of talent coming up. I think it’s great. We’re all coming from such knowledegable backgrounds.”

We are surprised that Christina is being so nice, as recently X Factor boss Simon Cowell revealed that he is determined to “destroy the competition” when his new series launches in September. He also criticised The Voice for copying his format.

We can’t wait to see how his new ratings compare to last year’s and to The Voice and Idols.
