Welsh Radio Stations Boycott Leon Jacksons Debut Single

A group of Welsh radio stations have decided to boycott X Factor winner, Leon Jackson’s debut single, over claims of voting problems for their local boy, Rhydian Roberts.

Swansea Bay Radio, Bridge FM, Radio Pembrokeshire, Radio Carmarthenshire and Scarlet FM – all owned by Town and Country Broadcasting have refused to play the song as they believe that many of Rhydian’s supporters were unable to register their phone votes on Saturday night, resulting in him losing the show.

“Our radio station presenters have been inundated with calls suggesting that during Saturday’s X Factor their votes for Welsh favourite Rhydian, supported by local Neath diva Katherine Jenkins, were not able to be counted as lines were jammed,” programme manager Gareth Davies told Radiotoday.co.uk.

“As a result until justice is done, we’ve decided not to play the winner’s single on our group of stations.”

How pathetic and immature of these Welsh radio stations.

We tried constantly to vote for Leon and had the same problem being unable to get through time after time after time. We must have tried over 100 times between all of us in the family and never got through for Leon. The phone lines were incredibly busy obviously.

Leon is the winner. Rhydian has also got himself a nice contact with Simon Cowell so he’s not exactly a loser.

These radio stations need to grow up.

The reason The Riddler lost is because he frightens the kids.

He looks like the mad monk from the Da Vinci Code.

Also; who’s gonna keep buying operatic CDs?

Leon had the X Factor. That’s why he won.

Gawd; the Welsh are a sad bunch of bad losers.

a LOT OF RADIO STATIONS ARE NOT GOING TO PLAY THE RECORD NOTHING TO DO WITH WALES/SCOTLAND DEBATE BUT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT THINK IT IS GOOD ENOUGH TO BE ON THE “A” PLAY LIST. NONE OF THEM HAD THE X-FACTOR THIS YEAR I THINK THEY SETTLED FOR THE Y FACTOR DUE TO LACK OF TALENT.

  5. Ann says:

Trudy. Do you really believe what you’re saying there?

Not good enough to be played on the “A” list?? Come ON!

Our local radio stations are absolutely inundated with requests for the song so I hardly think your comment stands any ground at all.

Actually when I tryed to vote for Leon I couldn’t get through, so I think that the welsh radio stations are just p*ssed off becausen Rhydian didn’t get through.

The reason Rhydian didn’t get through is because he’s a freak.!!

  7. Fairtruth says:

Wut, judging by your manner of speech, you must be frightened by that Rhydian guy, and you must be a kid yourself. But you may be right that the voting must have been controlled by kids because they voted for one of them, who appeals only to immature tastes.

If classical music doesn’t sell well, do you believe Leon’s swing/jazz can do any better? Guess Amy Winehouse, Pavarotti and Billy Connolly also frightened you?

Ann, I have no welsh/english/scottish connections whatsoever, but I have to say I am not impressed with the scottish voters. How ridiculous, unfair and pathetic of these scottish voters, who multi-voted for nationality rather than quality.

Sorry to be honest. Stupid nation-versus-nation arrangement. I think it is Britain as a whole suffers in the long run. Rhydian may not be my style of music, but he’s got the voice and stage presence, and at least he delivered pitch perfect every time he sang. A bandy legged weepy boy, who cannot sing, and most of the time cannot even manage to speak properly, to represent UK? God Save the Queen.

  8. Wut says:

Fairtruth. I have to say that if you think that Rhydian delivered a pitch-perfect song every time he sang then you’re sadly mistaken. He was by no means perfect. Let’s face it, he auditioned for Lloyd-Webber and didn’t get past the first round.

I am actually a classically trained musical artist and I am certainly not a kid any more but I drove my children 200-odd miles to Scotland to see Leon sing and believe me, that young man has charisma aplenty and his singing voice is actually incredible when you hear him live. Perhaps it was because he was so geed up in front of his home crowd that gave him the extra edge and confidence but don’t write him off. He’s also only 18, he’s just a young lad from a little Scottish town who never dreamt this would be possible and he’s got a lot of adjusting to do. And judging by what I saw (11,000 screaming fans – X Factor’s biggest home audience ever apparently) he’s certainly the one that had the X Factor. My children absolutely adore him and I truly wish him well for every success in the future.

I also wish Rhydian well but I really wish that his fans (would they TRULY carry on buying his CDs?? Honestly?) would accept that Leon won and move on.

Rhydian’s hardly a loser, he also got a contract so move on folks.
