Will Cheryl Cole mime on this week’s X Factor?
Cheryl Cole’s upcoming X Factor performance is becoming quite the talking point. Yesterday we heard that Cheryl would pre-record her performance of her debut solo single, Fight For This Love. Sources suggested that the full routine would be pre-recorded and slotted into the show at the appropriate time. However today, The Daily Mail claims that only the vocals will be pre-recorded and that Cheryl will mime to the vocal track.
An insider said: “Cheryl is the breakout star of Girls Aloud and there are big plans for her. Nobody – neither on The X Factor nor her record label Polydor – wants to see her fail, which is why we thought it was better for Cheryl to mime her performance.
“But, of course, Cheryl will be heavily criticised for not singing live and then returning to her judge’s chair to cast judgement on the hopefuls, who will have spent all week rehearsing and battling nerves.”
Personally, I have no problem with a pre-recorded performance, but I do have a problem with miming. Last year’s Britney Spears debacle should have taught the X Factor team something and it would seem unfair for all 11 remaining acts to have to sing live, whilst their mentor takes the easy option.

That’s just wrong. She should live to a certain calibre and expectations… including singing live.
Or is there just so much production to her new single (which is well below anyway) that she can’t replicate it live?!
She may as well mime-she cant sing.
She should sing live as an example to the acts she is
mentoring. She chose X-Factor to sing her first solo performance because she knew there would be a large audience, if she couldn’t manage to perform live and do her job as judge then she shouldn’t sing. She is singing on Sundays show lets be honest the judges do not do a lot until the end of the show when the bottom two are announced and then the choose which one to save.
Surely she can manage to sing and then sit down and do that, I have my doubts whether her voice is good enough to sing live. When Girls Aloud performed live on the last X-Factor the performance did not sound good so this may be why she will be miming.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Cheryl Cole I think she is excellent, despite the fact she isnt the most amazing singer, but then again I don’t ever recall her claiming to be that. Of course singing live on the X Factor would make sense but maybe a pre recording will suit the (I’m sure) hectic lifestyle of being one of the X Factor Judges, they do have a lot of work to put in too. Singing live will surely have the majority of the public’s apporval but I don’t think we should slate Cheryl for keeping it simple, she is an integral part of the judging pannel, voice or no voice, (not to be spiteful) but Danni Minogue doesn’t have an amazing voice, but she is still a Judge. Maybe just cut Cheryl some slack on this one?

I am a musician myself and find this quite disgusting. She will be expecting the ones she judges to sing live and should be able to do herself…it is a very bad example to those she’s judging. There’s a time and place for miming but this is not one of them and I don’t think the audience will be impressed either.Sorry Cheryl, i love your singing and like you generally, but really not impressed by this….it’s a cowards way out and unprofessional.

y is she on that panel of judges shes totally false . leona lewis should be there instead she at least can sing and has her own hair unlike cheryls extentions……
in all honesty i think its PATHETIC. Like alot of people have said she’s expecting all the contestants (or whatever) to sing it live and they aren’t even PROFESSIONAL.She’s saying it will be too complicated to sing live HELLO? The contestants have to; thats just so lame she’s judging them picking up their flaws but yet she can’t even sing live? :/ i guess we will have to see what happens eh.
Its up yo cheryl what she does! im a musician myself and she has had alot of commitments to work too! Girls aloud, Xfactor and her own career! leave the girl alone!

If i am honest, she was really good. and she did pre record. but she has a lot on. cut her some slack. who is anyone to judge how she acts and what she does. it is her life. you are not in her shoes. everyone needs to back off maybe she is a celebrity but she is still a human being.
Let’s all take a deep breath and stand back here. Cheryl is appearing and singing NOT as a contestant or as a judge, but as a guest star. So – Cheryl can be pre-recorded if the other guest stars are and sing live if they do and are not recorded. Whatever rules apply to the other guests should apply to her when she sings.
Does anyone know what the other guest stars do regarding pre-recording?
