Record company bosses are said to be facing a huge fight in order to get Leon Jackson’s single, ‘Whe You Believe’ to the number one spot this Christmas.

Radio One DJ’s, have recently launched a campaign asking people to break the X Factor’s winning tradition and download a Christmas track instead.

Last night DJ Colin Murray said: “If people think it would be healthy to break the predictable X Factor pop stronghold on the Christmas No.1 then download a Christmas single.”

HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo admitted that it would not be a big surprise if The Pogues’ classic snatched the top spot.

He said: “It represents the spirit of Christmas more than any other song. If the campaign to get it to the top of the charts builds up over the next week, it could beat the X Factor song.”
