X Factor 2006: First Night, Part Two!
Nikitta Angus – Heaven Must Have Sent You
I saw Nikitta on the Xtra Factor show last night during rehearsals. She looked confident and cute on stage. Tonight she was dressed to suit the Motown theme and looked pretty with her hair up. The sound quality wasn’t great (not her fault) but I couldn’t hear her at the start. I’m really coming around to Nikitta – she just looked like she was having fun throughout the whole thing.
Louis criticised Simon’s choice of song saying he may have cost her her career. Sharon “you have a great pureness about you…it comes very naturally to you.” Simon retorts to Louis “you are a nasty viscious little man. I wanted to show people a different side of her. Nikitta, don’t listen to him. You were terrific.”
My verdict: Top notch. We haven’t seen the best of this girl yet. I’m looking forward to seeing how she develops through the series.
Ben Mills – Tracks Of My Tears
Rocker Ben came on stage in a black suit looking every bit the star! For a moment, I thought he was going to be rooted behind the mic stand a la Liam Gallagher, but he soon stepped out and took the stage by storm. Singing was faultless, emotive and powerful.
Louis (showing his age again) commented that Ben was like a young Rod Stewart of Joe Cocker. Sharon said “you delivered” while Simon told him that he was possibly one of the best performers the X Factor has ever had.
My verdict: As expected, one of the most developed performers to hit the show. Ben already has his own style, confident and the maturity to carry it off. One of my favourite contestants already.

Why does Ben always sound as though he is straining on the toilet! Maybe that’s what Sharon meant when she said “You delivered”
