X Factor 2008: Alan Penfold The Pizza Man
Alan Penfold, 43, a pizza delivery worker from Caterham, is hoping to swap his takeaway rounds for the big stage, as he explains to Dermot, “the competition means a lot as it would give me the opportunity to have great experiences that I normally wouldn’t get.”
Alan tells the Judges that he regularly performs in his local pub doing karaoke, and it “goes down very well”.
As Alan prepares to sing, by putting on a single white glove and shades, he starts his rendition, along with dance routine and rap, of Michael Jacksons hit, Black and White. With Dannii hiding behind a piece of paper and Cheryl in fits of giggles, all Judges agree that they liked the dance routine, they are just not so sure on his vocals, with Simon suggesting, “You’re very energetic, if I had to choose one I would go with the dancing and not the singing, I just wouldn’t combine the two together”. Alan proves he’s not quite what the country is looking for and for him it’s back to the pizza round.
