So Simon Cowell has revealed that he has banned sob stories from this years series of X Factor and tried to make the show more about the talent.

Well it’s about time he listened to the readers of Unreality TV who have been asking the X Factor team to quit it with the tugs on our heartstrings since last year’s Leon Jackson fiasco.

Simon told The Mirror:

“We are attempting to move away from focusing too much on the sob stories.

This year, it’s all about trying to go back to raw talent.

“The stories got out of hand and people were starting not to believe them. It had got to the stage that people were trying harder to gain sympathy than to get praise for their singing.”

If Simon sticks to his word on this one, and we end up with a show that is similar to the American Idol format, then I hold out high hopes for this series of the X Factor. Lets face it, we couldn’t get a worse winner than last year!
