X Factor 2008: I Just Loved Diana Vickers!

I don’t know how I have missed her so far, but on tonight’s X Factor bootcamp show I noticed Diana Vickers for the first time this series.
She sang Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, and unlike many of the other singers before her who crashed and burned and fell apart with nerves, Diana stayed focused and made the song completely her own.
Although she did have some definite Amy Winehouse influence in her voice, she was certainly not trying to be a tribute acte and what I liked about Diana was her performance style and stage presence.
In case you can’t remember who this girl is, I have included a video clip at the top of the page. I am hoping to see this girl in the top twelve, but this show is so unpredictable that it’s hard to know who will make it and who will go!

Don’t know if she wrote it or what, but I’ve not heard anyone else singing it before. It’s catchy and well worth a look for any Diana fan!

She sings in a psudeo irish accent. Have any of you heard of Sinead o’connor, or maybe the Cranberries. I mean really its just crap for the lowest common denominator who knows no better,

Ok, where do I start, as this is really bugging me now.
Like Diana, I feel that most of the country are in denial about her voice, fuelling a self belief system that she is really good…and to be honest she is not even close to good.
I feel Judges are affraid to be honest as this may upset her or a law suite may come for speaking the truth, look how cruel they were to Dainel they should be the same to her, if you want a voice with style then buy the Cranberries, Bjork as that is how to do it.
For a start Diane sings from her nose and back of the throat, and warbles like an off key mental patient, she sings off key as she is not good enough to find the note straight away and with crappy hand movements likened to a scopey. She is not talented like some of the others on the show, in fact others voted off are miles better.
Now I know people must like her as a person for sure but someone close to her PLEASE be honest and save the country from it’s darkest day to come.
There must be a bit backstage betting going on with the Judges as to how far she can get by lying how good she is, I think even Diana must know how crap she really is compared to some of the others talents there.
Arrrrgh, Take That must have cringed as she sang one of their songs, well to say she sang it would be a complement, she warbled like a strangled starling, sang out of tune and ruined a perfectly good song YET AGAIN. I won’t deny that there were times in the early days that I thought she had potential. But then it became the same old same old, bastardizing the songs.
I see a little girl who has been sheltered from the truth all her life and if ever there was a reason to stop watching TV and go and do something less boring instead now is the time.

It’ll be a crime if diana doesn’t win. A totally unique voice and delightful young lady . Refreshingly different in a sea of “sameyness”.

When I first heard Diana, I thought ‘what a different voice’ and I wasn’t sure if I liked her or not, but after hearing her for the 3rd time I just found her voice really annoying.
I have watched videos on youtube where people have copied her style of singing and those people openly admitted that they had no talent, yet they sounded very much like her.
The last song she sung reminded me of a Banshee on a revenge trip…it went through me.
How she managed to stay in and Ruth being booted out is a mystery to me.
Even the judges know she isn’t good.
As Simon said a while ago: “she is like Marmite, you either love her or hate her!”
All the judges agreed that Alexandra and Ruth had the most talent..I think the whole thing has just turned into a popularity contest and not a talent show.
