X Factor 2008: Ruth Lorenzo Doesn’t Want To Sing In Spanish!
X Factor competitor, Ruth Lorenzo, has defended her decision not to continually sing in Spanish as Simon Cowell requested, saying that it would be disrespectful and boring.
Speaking on ITV2’s The Xtra Factor Lorenzo insisted:
"I have to disagree with him because this is an English-speaking country. Even though I sing in Spanish, everyone knows I can sing in Spanish. But I think it’s disrespectful if every week I sing in Spanish."
She added: "It gets boring."
However Lorenzo’s pal Rachel Hylton thinks that Ruth should consider bringing some Latin vibes into her performances and follow the lead of artists like Shakira.

Ruth is a wonderful singer. I was brought up in Spain and I think she should be proud of her heritage and sing in Spanish – here is a suggestion Ruth: Rosanna “Si tu no estas”. Suerte.

We really love the Spanish. It is a wonderfully sexy language to sing in, unlike other languages! Just a little section in the song makes it her own. It’s such a refreshing change to combine the Spanish & English with an amazing voice & incredible charisma. All that power in one performer! Ruth rox
Keep voting for her.

There is nothing wrong with singing in Spanish if you can do it, you should do it. A lot of the biggest recording artists can sing in at least 2 or 3 languages some in the past could sing in more others could speak fluently more than one language.Having the ability to do this places an individual leagues ahead of the competition.
As a classical singer I love foreign languages and I personally think a person with a big voice sounds tremendous in a foreign language more so than English.
Go for it Ruth.
