The X Factor judges have unanimously branded Cardiff as the worst audition venue of the series. Though only the lack of Irish auditions left them in this lowly position.

However, there was at least one gem to come out of the City, in the form of Alex Davis.

Alex is a 16 year old girl from Bridgend and though the start of her X Factor VT makes dubious statements about Alex being a beacon of hope for the suicidal youngsters of her hometown, her audition is actually rather quite good.

She sings ‘Fields Of Gold’ for the judges and whilst she was obviously nervous, the girl has a really sweet voice and an even sweeter face. I have a feeling that it was a mixture of talent, looks and likeability that got her through the first stage of the competition. I’m just not sure that it is all enough to help her win the show.
