X Factor 2009: Dannii Minogue Considered Quitting

Dannii Minogue

Dannii Minogue has admitted that she seriously considered not returning to the X Factor panel this year. The Australian judge added that she demanded fairer treatment and a better atmosphere in return for her coming back to the show.

Speaking to The Independent, she explained: “I’m not made of steel. It got heated on and off set, and there’s only so many times I can be pushed around.

“It got to the point where I had to defend my character. I’m sure the audience were eating it up, but it’s different when you’re actually in that seat. It was absolutely horrible. I would never want to go through that again, or see anyone else go through it. But it’s what you sign up for.”

She added: “This year there’s a really good vibe between us. Last year it was clear to everyone that I wasn’t having fun, and I made it very clear that if it was going to be anything like that again, then I didn’t want to go there.”

I’m glad she stood up for herself, no-one should have to be
put up with being treated like that its unfair. Danni was a
good judge and she worked hard on behalf of her acts and did
not deserve the criticism she got, she acted very professional
throughout Sharons bullying and when she was getting stick from
Louis last year, it must have been hard for her especially
having Rachel as one of her acts as she was a very difficult
person with too much attitude and opinion and anyone else would
have retaliated to her but Danni still treated Rachel fairly, I
couldn’t have done. I think both Cheryl and Danni have different
styles to bring to the show and that is good, I also think they
got on better than was suggested but Simon liked to cause a bit
of friction to get extra publicity for the show.

I am hoping this year the programme is more about the acts and
    less about the judges.
