X Factor 2009: Joe McElderry received the most votes for 4 weeks running

We have just received confirmation from ITV officials that Joe McElderry scooped 61.3% of the public votes, when he won tonight’s X Factor final.
Joe also got the most votes in the three weeks preceding the final, starting when he performed ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’ in week seven.
More surprising perhaps is the fact that Olly Murs, Joe’s fellow finalist, didn’t top the poll for even one week, whilst Danyl Johnson and Stacey Solomon managed it twice.
Here is a breakdown of who topped the vote each week. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the results so leave your comments below.
Week 1: Danyl Johnson
Week 2: Stacey Solomon
Week 3: Rachel Adedeji
Week 4 & 5: Danyl Johnson
Week 6: Stacey Solomon
Weeks 7, 8, 9 and 10: Joe McElderry
