X Factor 2009: Joe McElderry to win, Olly murs to leave?

You’ll have to excuse us if we ramble a bit here, because we’re a little disturbed that in only one week’s time there will be no more X Factor for another year. What will we do on Saturday night’s? After all it’s not as if we have a social life anymore!

We were of course glued to tonight’s semi-final show and it seems like an already foregone conclusion that Joe McElderry will win.

There were lots of indicators – the amazing judges comments, the standing ovations and the rapturous applause – but what swung it for us was that he was the only one who didn’t hit a flat note during either one of his songs. Of course we are very aware that a week is a long time in reality TV world and there is always a chance that some ex will sell a story to a Sunday tabloid saying that Joe is a closet S&M enthusiast in real life, but as long as there are no major upsets, we think Joe has this one in the bag.

Only three singers can advance to next week’s final though and we are starting to think that tomorrow night may be Olly Mur’s last. To be honest we don’t really care whether it’s Danyl or Olly who leaves but we have noticed a distinct thawing of attitudes towards Danyl in the past week, both in the media and with show fans. Will that and his decent vocals tonight be enough to pull him through to the final?

As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts below and feel free to disagree with everything w have just said!
