X Factor 2010: Cher Lloyd sings ‘Hard Knock Life’ (VIDEO)
Cher Lloyd made her much awaited return to the X Factor stage tonight.
Louis Walsh admitted that he worries Cher is taking a risk with her merging of two songs tonight and Dannii Minogue fretted that the teenager would crash and burn on stage.
Lloyd emerged on stage and started to sing ‘Hard Knock Life’ very much in a theatrical way, it could have been straight from Annie on the West End. However after one verse she started her trademark rapping and added some personality to the song.
Judges Comments:
Louis: Cher I thought you were taking a big risk but you know what you were right to take the risk because it so worked. You are like a mini Cheryl, I absolutely loved the fact that you’re doing what you like and you look like a popstar.
Dannii: Brave song choice, I wasn’t sure about it tonight. I love every risk you’ve taken before but tonight it didn’t really work for me.
Simon: I absolutely loved it. As far as I’m concerned you can sing the phonebook because like the group before, I can see the future here. You are exciting, you take risks, you’re interesting, you’re different and I pray to God you are here next week.
Cheryl: It’s true, you look like a popstar, you sound like a popstar, you dress like a popstar, you’re attitude is like a popstar, you are a popstar!

How is this new and fresh when Jay Z+ did it seven years ago? The more the judges speak about her the more I think the fix is in and if Simon and Louis are saying that it’s cool–it kind of isn’t. Is this a talent contest where anything is acceptable or is it a singing competition because coming out and singing for 30 seconds and then rapping is not really fair to the other contestants who actually sing.

Cher believes she has something – and there are clearly people that agree. It is certainly not her voice which is at best average, so it has to do with her physical features, gestures and clothing.
I dislike rap and for that matter hearing someone recite poetry – I find both boring.
Hardly surprising therefore that I find her irritating and look forward to the time she is voted off.

I do think Cher is great, but personally hated the performance and choice of song last night. I would vote her out on that performance alone.
A few years ago all these similar comments were made about a certain singer who’s first release went to number 1. She was quirky to the point of insanity. Now everyone has a point of view and tastes differ, but to say she has no talent is a bit of a “non comment” from someone who only knows what they like, the majority of people will have listened and realise what a big talent Cher has. Keep going Cher, someday the talentless people who can only criticise, will understand what talent is.

Firstly,I am not a ‘hater’ since when did having an opposing opinion become soo wrong?
I don’t get the gushing praise heaped on Cher – she is, at best, average and most certainly not fresh andoriginal. And to claim SHE put the songs together and be applauded for it, I am now totally convicned Simon Cowell has lost the plot!!!! Although Cher thrived in her first audition leaving the judges intrigued to find out more about her and her unique performance she has disappointed on numerous occasions. Okay, with the colourful flashing lights, the sparkly outfits, the decoration and the background dancers she is quite an entertainer, but take a moment to remember that after all this is a singing competition and she does not come close to others in this competition.
As Danni quoted “for some people you can take away the visuals and just listen” try that for Cher and see what you get. Papers think that the reason she got this far was because Cheryl sees herself in Cher. The public love Cheryl and she has won the past three years so there is a chance Cher could knock out some of these people that have worked so hard, and actually have amazing talent. I think it is unfair but all I’m trying to say is remember that it is a SIGNING competition, not an entertainment competition.

im a teenager, and unlike most of my mates, i see past the makeup, lights, background dancers and all that, and realise its only fair to look at this as a singing competition, i think x factor should make her just stand there no dancers or glittter outfits, amazing backgrounds, just her in a plain dress and a microphone and make her prove she deserves to be there.

The long awaited fall of Simon Cowell begins and we in America could not be happier as he has “fixed” several American Idols (why do the number twos keep on being more successful?).
If there is an award for the most ill-begotten song concept on a British reality show, this would win it for the last five years. From the costumes (what is that black think in her crotch) to their hair to the skank-stalk choreography to the faux-rap to the adoring faces of the judges, this one really takes the cake, chomps it down greedily, vomits it out and then licks up the mess while drooling on the floor.
I like Cher, just simply because she is unique; she has her own style. I do agree with Rob though, she should just sing, no rap or anything. Just her and her voice. If she is still in then people obviously like her voice and not so much her looks!
