Katy Perry has revealed that though she had not met Cheryl Cole before today, she has admired the stars beautiful dimples from afar.

The ‘California Girls’ singer joined Cheryl, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh at the X Factor auditions in Ireland today and just before she entered the Dublin Convention centre she spoke to Expose about the day ahead.

On what sort of judging style she planned to adopt for the wannabes Katy said:

I am giving, hopefully, constructive criticism.

When asked if she liked judging and mentoring on talent shows (she also stood in for one day on last year’s American Idol), the singer replied:

It’s fun to give my opinion and I always have one of course. Hopefully I can give something to these kids that they can actually learn from rather than like ‘oh no you’re crap!’ I think that some people waste a lot of time and some people just need a bit of advice.

And after fellow guest judges Geri Halliwell or Natalie Imbruglia failed to win in the style stakes against Cheryl Cole, Katy was asked how she felt about today’s impending dress off. She said:

I’ve never met her but I love those dimples! If you don’t get it right on X Factor you’ll get judged yourself so I am feeling a little bit more grown up today but still myself, maybe a bit on the romantic side, I just came from seeing my boyfriend.
