X Factor 2010: Mary Byrne is aiming for the live finals
X Factor wannabe Mary Byrne has revealed that she is not as shy as Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle.
The 50 year old Tesco worker, was seen on last night’s X Factor show, impressing Katy Perry, Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh with a heartfelt rendition of Tom Jones’ I Who Have Nothing.
After her audition, Simon Cowell told the Irish woman:
“I think you have the best voice out of everyone who has auditioned her today. Seriously, seriously good. Actually more than that, I really like you.”
Cheryl Cole added:
“That was my favourite audition of Dublin so far. It was full if power and emotion and passion. You gave me goosebumps.”
On comparisons that have since been drawn between her and middle aged star Susan Boyle, Mary told The News Of The World:
“”It’s nice to be compared to her in the sense she is someone who made it big.
“But Susan has a softer voice than me, mine’s very strong and deep. Susan was shy. But I’m embracing the limelight. Now I’m aiming to get to the live finals, get a nice contract and become the singer I want to be.
“But my family will keep my feet on the ground.”
