X Factor 2010: Mary Byrne is ‘thrilled’ by Susan Boyle comparisons
Mary Byrne has revealed that she is ‘thrilled’ that people have compared her to Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle.
The 50 year old Tesco worker, was seen on last night’s X Factor show, impressing Katy Perry, Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh with a heartfelt rendition of Tom Jones’ I Who Have Nothing.
After her audition, Simon Cowell told the Irish woman:
“I think you have the best voice out of everyone who has auditioned her today. Seriously, seriously good. Actually more than that, I really like you.”
Cheryl Cole added:
“That was my favourite audition of Dublin so far. It was full if power and emotion and passion. You gave me goosebumps.”
Audience members and journalists have since been likening middle aged Mary to reality TV success story Subo and she’s more than happy with the comparison.
She told The Daily Star:
“It’s a huge compliment to be compared to Susan. She has become a huge star and has an amazing voice so I’m thrilled.
“She is a similar age and I guess neither of us look like your typical star. We have both waited so long do what we are doing.
“I bought her album the day it came out and I’d love to one day release my own.”

Don’t be too thrilled about it.
By tomorrow the UK media will be tearing you to shreds.
Believe me, you don’t want to be compared to Susan Boyle. Susan Boyle is a phenomenom that can never be replaced.
