X Factor 2010: Mary Byrne shimmys for the judges…despite her arthritis

by Lisa McGarry

We absolutely LOVED Mary Byrne’s dance moves on tonight’s X Factor show.

In his bid to find some all round talented stars on this year’s series of the ITV show, Simon Cowell decided that the acts must be able to sing and move and asked the professional choreographer to give them a dance masterclass.

On hearing the news, Mary, 50 said:

“I have to do this, I’m enjoying every minute of it.”

However an hour later, Mary seemed to be struggling with the pace set by choreographer Brian Friedman and as she panted her way through the rehearsals she admitted:

“My knees are starting to swell from the arthritis and my legs are aching, the weight doesn’t help either. I’m not trying to make excuses, I feel real bad, I feel like I am letting myself down.”

But when the time came to strut her stuff for Simon and Louis, the Tesco worker was insistent that she would give it her all. She laughed:

“I’m going to try to dance for the judge..I’ll give it a shot because I refuse to be beaten by arthritis.”

She managed to follow most of the routine and when it came to the freestyle section, Byrne smiled at the judges and gave them the best boob shimmy we have EVER seen!

Surely she can’t be booted out after that? Were you loving Mary tonight? Leave your comments below.
