X Factor 2010: One Direction cheered Cheryl Cole up with ‘Kids In America’ (VIDEO)
One Direction embraced the American theme on tonight’s X Factor show.
The teen sensations sang the Kim Wilde classic ‘Kids In America,’ and were joined onstage by a team of no less than 28 lively cheerleaders.
Liam Payne started the song, with what was actually quite a strong and steady vocal. We LOVED the boys high school sports jackets and cardigans and we can so see these guys becoming the newest High School Musical style phenomenon.
It wasn’t a complicated performance, there weren’t many harmonies and the song wasn’t too taxing but all in all it was enjoyable and One Direction fans will have loved it. The boys will sail through to next week after that!
Judges Comments:
Louis Walsh: Boys that was a brilliant way to end the show. You remind me a little bit of Westlife, Take That and Boyzone, you could be the next big boyband. But Simon, I have to get my rule book out, the theme is American Anthems. This wasn’t a hit in America, it was by Kim Wilde. She is from London, your mentor has cheated!
Dannii Minogue: It had the word America in it, there were American cheerleaders in it, it wad a great performance! Really really good. I don’t think vocally it was the best of the night but a great performance.
Cheryl Cole: That absolutely cheered me up and brightened up my night. You are great kids and I love chatting to you backstage, you are good lads, nice lads. Good song choice Cowell, I have to give it to you.
Simon Cowell: When you came out it was like sunshine on a beautiful day and then Louis the thundercloud comes along. Taking all that rubbish to one side, that was your best performance by a mile. On the money!

Woo! Go One Direction! They deserve to win. They are brilliant singers solo and together and everybody loves them loads, especially teenage girls. Ther gonna be a hit! One Direction FTW!

I love One Direction – their stage presence was great tonight, but I didn’t like the song and their vocals were way off. They just didn’t hit the notes like they did in their perfect performance of Viva La Voca.
Anybody noticed that Zayn’s role in the group is the same as Melody’s role in Pussycat Dolls?
He only sings abit and do the o-o-ooh at the end or middle of the song.
So looks like I was not the only one that noticed that!

It probably would have been better as 4 boys rather than 5.
5 seems too much that some of them barely sing anything. Even if they get a deal it might be problematic later on who is the lead and who gets to sing and the likes.
That being typed. Brian needs to work harder with their choreography. they can do better than just bounce around like water balloons.
I still think last week was their best week. It was surprisingly good and in tune. This week on the other hand was eehhh!!

They mimed! Cheats!
They did not mime. They’re not allowed to mime, only in the big group performance on Sundays do they mime.
Also, Liam is the leader and the frontman of the group, but I do believe that Simon’s making a mistake not giving Harry lead vocals, I get that he gets stage fright, but he needs to get over it now. He has the strongest voice in my opinion.
Also, I thought Total Eclipse Of The Heart last week was their best performance, but this week I thought it wasn’t too good. And that shows, because they’ve dropped from being joint favourite (with Matt Cardle) to win, to third behind Rebecca and Matt.
They need to up their game, but to be honest they’re gonna do great whatever happens, they have a massive fan base <3
This miming controversy… people are saying that because Zain came in late and that there was still singing shows that they were miming… however Harry was singing too!! Has nobody noticed that?? You can clearly hear Harry’s voice! Nobody should complain about 1D while Wagner is still in the competition!! He’s entertaining, maybe, but he isn’t talented!
I love One Direction, but I know that they weren’t the best vocally last night, clearly that was Matt, but they do great performances and they have fun, whereas other contestants look as if it is a chore to be up on stage!
They didn’t mime and I agree, I reckon Harry and Liam should share lead vocals, but obviously Harry gets really nervous, and his solo vocals weren’t great last night, whereas Liam’s vocals have been consistently good, not sure about Niall though
one direction are great but I think cher or rebecca should win
