X Factor 2010: Phillip Schofield hated Nicolo Festa’s sunglasses
Phillip Schofield thinks that Nicolo Festa’s sunglasses may have led to him being eliminated from The X Factor last night.
The 21 year old student from Treviso, Italy performed Lady Gaga’s ‘Just Dance’ on Saturday’s first live show and was styled in a black suit, white shirt and huge red sunglasses. After his appearance judge Cheryl Cole commented that the shades affected his performance badly. She said:
I didn’t love it Nicolo. I think the one thing above all that you need, is to redeem that connection and I didn’t like your eyes covered.
Speaking on This Morning, just before he interviewed Festa, Schofield admitted that he also thought the specs were a mistake. He said:
Well I think it was a mistake to put glasses on him. If anyone ever comes here as a guest and has sunglasses on, we try very politely to ask them to take them off, because you don’t get to see their eyes. There is a real barrier there.
Do you think Nicolo could have been saved, if he had just shown off his peepers? Leave your comments below.

Whether he was a nice guy in reality or not, he initially went out of his way to make himself seem like an irritating and unlikable diva. I suppose he thought he could set himself apart and become noticeable that way and later reveal that he wasn’t all that bad, but his mistake lay in the lack of time to gather a base among fans.
His legacy will always be that of an immature, ill-graced and spoiled little boy, because that is how he decided to portray himself.
We loved the red Ray-Ban Wayfarers but agree that it was a barrier that prevented the audience from enjoying the performance. Dropping the sunnies might not have saved him though, other acts endeared themselves to the public a bit quicker than Nicolo. x
