X Factor 2010: Simon Cowell tells pensioner Hazel Jackson ‘I LOVE You!’ (VIDEO)

by Lisa McGarry

Making her TV debut on tonight’s X Factor show is Hazel from Cheshire.

The 69 year old told crew before her audition that her reason for being there was “to go to Bootcamp. If I can get further than all these young people and I’m in it to win it.”

It was the second time that Hazel had auditioned for the X factor, she first tried her luck six years ago.

Hazel took to the Manchester stage for her chance to shine in front of the Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger..

Simon asked: “Tell me something about you, what do we need to know about you?”

Hazel bluntly replied: “My husband left me last September.”

Simon laughed: “And Hazel, are you hoping to find somebody new or do you want to win him back?”

Hazel quipped: “Oh I don’t know yet, depends who I meet doesn’t it. I might meet somebody nice on this show!”

Nicole jokes with Louis: “She’s got a twinkle in her eye when she’s looking at you!”

The pensioner then embarks on a rendition of Tina Turner’s Simply The Best by Tina Turner.

Judges Comments:

Louis: “Hazel: I thought it was very entertaining.”

Simon: “Okay Hazel, look, I love you. The singing, nobody could listen to an album of you doing that. I mean you just couldn’t…I’m going to kick this off and say absolutely ‘no’ for the next round based on your singing voice.”

Nicole: “I just love the energy and the spirit that you brought to that song. I love how courageous you are and what you stand for, for being out here and you look good honey…I’m gonna say yes!”

With Louis left to cast the deciding vote, has Hazel caught his eye enough to make her way through to Bootcamp? Tune in tonight at 7.30pm to find out!
