Victoria Beckham has reportedly refused to lend out dresses from her fashion line to Cheryl Cole.
Cole is said to be planning her X Factor wardrobe with a team of top UK stylists, in a bid to win at least some of the weekly ‘frock offs’ she enjoys with Dannii Minogue. After seeing guest judge Nicole Scherzinger wow crowds in a range of VB gowns, the Girls Aloud singer was hoping to wear a few for the live shows this winter.
However, the team at Mrs B’s label have refused to allow Cheryl to borrow the dresses, saying that any celebrities pictured in her gowns have bought them outright.
An insider told The Mirror:
“We don’t loan dresses. If celebrities are photographed wearing them, they have bought them.”
A source at Victoria’s label said: “Celebrities often call asking to borrow a dress, but we just don’t loan them out. Sometimes a stylist may have borrowed one from stores like Selfridges or Harvey Nichols. But as each dress is hand-made and crafted to perfection, Victoria doesn’t have stock hanging around to lend out.”
An X Factor source said yesterday: “Cheryl’s team of stylists made enquiries about wearing Victoria’s clothes because they are some of the most stylish around, but they were politely told, ‘No way’.”
She is now looking at ranges by top designers Matthew Williamson, Roberto Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood and Chaneland also cool newcomers such as Hannah Marshall. The source added:
“Cheryl would also like to include some of the young, up-and-coming designers from fashion schools.”
We would have thought, if Chez is desperate enough for a Beckham dress, she would dig into those deep pockets and shell out £2,000 for one of her own. It’s not like she’s on the bread line after all!
