X Factor 2010: will.i.am helps Cheryl Cole at judges houses

by Lisa McGarry

Will.i.am has flown to the UK this weekend, so that he can assist Cheryl Cole at the X Factor judges houses stage.

The Black Eyed Peas star got close to Cole when they worked together on her debut solo album ‘Three Words’. He was featured on her single of the same name and earlier this year Cheryl was the support act for parts of the BEP’s European tour.

It had been reported that Cheryl wanted Derek Hough to be her number two at judges houses and wanted his input into who she chose to mentor on the live shows. A source told The Mirror:

Cheryl wants Derek with her when she returns to work.

“She doesn’t think there is anyone better around to help whip her acts into shape and win the show.

“Derek is a brilliant dancer and he knows so much about music and performing and Cheryl really respects his advice.

However bosses are said to have over-ruled Cheryl and an insider added:

This is the biggest show on TV so they feel that likewise mentors should be the biggest names in the music industry, not the judge’s latest squeeze. It’s unprofessional to say the least.

Cheryl may adore Derek but unfortunately that feeling isn’t shared among the X Factor bigwigs.

She was persistent in wanting Derek by her side, but it was explained to her that he is a dancer not a singer, and that X Factor is about singing.

Daily Star reporter James Ingham is tweeting live from Cheryl’s venue today and confirmed that Will.i.am is by her side writing:

“Ok guys, can reveal Will.iam is cheryl’s number 2!”

“”Auditions started! Cheryl looks beautiful…. Will.iam looks too cool for school as always!”

He added:

“And for all you asking… Yes it’s true that SO FAR Cheryl has refused to do pics or interviews with any of the press! Will.i.am has though!”

Judges Houses auditions will air on ITV later this month.
