X Factor 2011: Amelia Lily thinks Janet Devlin is Kelly Rowland’s favourite
Amelia Lily has admitted that she wasn’t shocked when Kelly Rowland saved Janet devlin on last night’s X Factor show, because she always suspected the Destinys Child star had a soft spot for the Northern Irish singer.
Lily was eliminated from the ITV series on yesterday’s results show, after a twist set in place by producers meant that each mentor had to choose one of their own acts to leave the show after only one performance.
Speaking on This Morning, the pink haired star said that she knew it wouldn’t be Janet, explaining:
“I always kind of thought that Janet was one of her favourites right back to Janet’s very first audition.”
However she doesn’t bear any grudges against her former mentor and said that she always knew Kelly thought a lot of all her girls. She added:
“Kelly was an inspiration not just to the girls category but to all of the contestants and she loved all of us individually in our own little way.”
Amelia also admitted that she thinks she ended up being eliminated, because her song was more risky that her fellow girls’ numbers. She sang a revamped version of Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ on the first live show of the series and explained:
“I think all the girls had really safe songs but my song was a massive risk. It was Michael Jackson, what a risk, especially for me, I’m a girl and I’m young. But I thought, do you know what, this competition is about taking risks and it’s a massive challenge and I thought I’m going to do this and make it my own and I did. I was happy with my performance, I thought not many people could pull of Billie Jean the way I did it.”

The girl’s category was always going to be the hardest so not sure favouritism comes into it. Problem was that one had to go. Had we had the normal way of vote off then Amelia and 2 Shoes would likely have remained as would have all of the girls – the category is so superior than the others and sadly we are left with acts like Nu Vibe / Frankie / Kitty who hopefully when the real voters have their say will not progress much further. Other suggestion seen on this site that Kelly Rowland is a racist because she kept Misha is totally stupid. Misha is the only coloured girl in the category and based on her performance on Saturday was by far the best in this category on the night. None of the girls had safe songs – all were versions of classic hits so Amelia that line doesn’t wash. I Wish you well and believe things will happen for you but part of growing up is accept defeat with dignity knowing that you did your best – which is what you did.

Of course Kelly has her favourites, Misha & Janet. This year’s show is as bad, if not worse than last year’s – the ratings are down for starters. A big fix, with Walsh totally taking the p*** by putting through that ridiculous Johnny Robinson.

If one of the other girls had performed poorly, I could understand the outrage. Also, if she was as good as everyone says (and as good as she thinks she is) then she would have pulled off the performance and she didn’t. It’s also unfair to blame either Kelly, Misha, or Janet for her not getting through. Blame the twist or the producers but leave the others alone. It’s also sad to see people resort to racism to express their disappointment in the result.
I would’ve liked to see sophie go because I find her very forgettable. She’s good, sure, better than Frankie or Johnny say, but do you even remember what song she sang? no? Well I don’t. Do you remember Johnny in the cool Disco Ball? Yes
So I think she should’ve left. But Amelia Lily is very young, and rejection is part of the industrie. She might as well learn now
Amilia, Jade and Misha are the only three that should have remained. It is because Kelly favours Sophie and Janet that two of them are out.
How can Janet, or Sophie compare to the strong beautiful voices of Misha and Amelia.
Kelly knows exactly what She is doing and those two paid dearly and unfairly.
I would buy an album made by Jade and Amelia, maybe one from Sophie (50/50), but definitely not one made by Janet.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Janet is a really sweet girl and I can see why people like her. However, all this hype making her think She is one of the best is not fair to her.
However much you like her, would you really buy her album and listen to it over and over again.
