X Factor 2011 bootcamp: Derry Mensah disappoints Kelly Rowland
Derry Mensah had the judges raving about his performance, when he first auditioned for The X Factor, but it seems that his second attemtp didn’t go so well.
The 20 year old Croydon hopeful was featured on a recent episode of the ITV show and was seen wooing Kelly Rowland and wowing the panel with his rendition of Usher’s ‘Can You Help Me.’
At the time the Destinys Child star took quite a shine to the hunk, and as he arrived at bootcamp he admitted that he was desperate to impress her once more saying:
“I love Kelly Rowland and if she was to say something negative about my performance I’d be shattered!”
However, his worst dreams came true when he and four other hopefuls took to the stage to sing Jesse J’s Price Tag. Afterwards Gary Barlow commented:
“Derry that sounded high.”
Mensah tried to defend himself saying:
“I just had to do it like that cos everyone else felt comfortable in their own way so…”
But the judges weren’t convinced and afterwards Gary said to Kelly:
“Derry made you merry last time…not today?”
She responded:
“Derry didn’t make me anything…I was not happy at all.”
To see if Derry managed to get a second chance and made it beyond bootcamp to judges houses, check out our spoiler list here and our final 16 post here.
