Craig Colton has denied reports that he is dating former X Factor contestant Danyl Johnson last night.

The current competitor was spotted out having dinner with the former teacher in London’s South Bank last week and so called insiders claimed they were a couple and had shared a number of romantic dates since meeting backstage a few weeks ago.

However, Craig insisted that they were only meeting to discuss his future music career and on The Xtra Factor, explained:

We met a few weeks ago on the show and we stayed friends. He’s been working with some amazing producers who I was quite interested in. That was what the day was about, we weren’t on a date.

Danyl has yet to make an official comment on the matter.

Craig also went on to explain that he has worked hard to retain his identity on the ITV show, so that when he finishes, people will know exactly what sort of album they can expect him to release. He added:

I think I had my identity when I came in. I knew exactly what I wanted to do and obviously through themes I have had to adjust. But I have tried to keep it close to what I would put on my album.
