X Factor 2011: Gary Barlow gets competitive with the boys category
Gary Barlow was over the moon when the X Factor judges awarded him the boys category at last month’s bootcamp.
The Take That singer was seen on tonight’s episode of the ITV show, admitting to his fellow judges that he was desperate to work with the young male singers and just as keen to avoid mentoring the overs or groups categories.
Barlow told his fellow panellists:
There’s no question for me, the Boys is the best category. If I get the groups or the Overs I’m leaving
However, he wasn’t the only one hoping to work with Craig Colton, Joe Cox, Frankie Cocozza, Luke Lucas, John Wilding, Marcus Collins, Max Vickers and James Michael. Louis Walsh also wanted in on the act and added:
“In an ideal world I would get the Boys.”
Luckily, Gary’s wish came true and as he walked into the room and was greeted by the boys, Gary raved:
“Oh my goodness, I can’t believe it, and you know what the lucky thing for you guys is, this is my first year and I’m going to be on you 24-hours a day…I want to share with you my 20-years of experience in this industry and help you to be by the end of the competition the best that you can be…And we’re going to Los Angeles! ”
Craig was thrilled and gushed:
“Complete madness, I’m so excited!”
Joe added:
“That’s the best outcome I could have hoped for.”
Gary thinks he can win this series and when Dermot O’Leary asked:
“Are you getting competitive now?”
Gary replied:
“What do you mean now? I’ve been competitive from the start!”
