Georgie Thompson has been chosen as the new presenter of The Xtra Factor it has been claimed.

The Sky Sports star is the long term girlfriend of Britain’s Got Talent host Declan Donnelly and has reportedly been picked by Simon Cowell as the replacement for Blue Peter’s Konnie Huq on the X Factor spinoff show.

A show source told The News Of The World.: “The Xtra Factor job would be great for Georgie. She’ll be fantastic.”

The publication claims that Georgie was actually considered for the job last year, after Holly Willoughby left the show but was eventually beaten to the role by Konnie.

However insiders previously claimed that Simon Cowell wanted to get rid of the newly married star, after a series of on air mistakes.

A production source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Simon Cowell hasn’t been impressed and it seems certain she will be axed. Every week there seems to be a new mistake.”
