X Factor 2011: Janet Devlin makes her comeback with ‘Kiss Me’ (VIDEO)
Janet Devlin has admitted that she was terrified about returning to the X Factor tonight, after the barrage of criticism she got from Gary Barlow last week.
The Northern Irish singer has been blasted for being too boring and predictable with her recent performances, but when we heard what Kelly Rowland had chosen for her to sing tonight, we thought it was a good pick.
The Destinys Child star gave the talented teen ‘Kiss Me’ by Sixpence None The Richer for the movie themed show, from the film ‘ She’s All That’ and we thought it’s quirky nature would really suit her voice.
Janet seemed back to her own style, wearing a printed hippy looking maxi dress for the show. Gone was the wannabe goth look and in was a softer Devlin this evening. You can find out more about her dress and where you can get your own, on our sister blog Stylejacking.
Her vocals were stronger too and we loved Janet’s take on this cute little song. She wasn’t trying to be anything different than who she is and it worked. For us, it was her best performance in weeks.
JUDGES COMMENTS:
LOUIS WALSH: Every week you deliver, no tricks. With you it’s all about the voice, you’ve got natural celtic charm.
TULISA CONTOSTAVLOS: Janet I am so happy to see you back in your comfort zone. You look like you’re enjoying yourself. My only advice is next week, if you make it through, pull out some big songs…something epic.
KELLY ROWLAND: Well done tonight, this was a great performance to bounce back. I love that, I am so proud!
GARY BARLOW: I think over the last three weeks your performances have been below average, however tonight a great improvement! Much better tonight. It’s all about song choice, when you get the song right it really soars. You were really connected tonight and so were we.
