X Factor 2011: Janet Devlin’s cardigan was naff but her voice is pretty amazing (VIDEO)
16 year old Janet Devlin made her TV debut on tonight’s X Factor show and we think wshe may just be good enough to make the live shows later this year.
In her pre-performance VT, the 16 year old singer from Gortin, Tyrone almost whispered to the cameras, admitting that she was incredibly ‘nervous’ and worried because she isn’t used to such big crowds.
Living in the middle of the countryside, Janet revealed that she spends a lot of time in her room “reading, writing and singing.”
She added:
I’ve been writing songs and poetry since I was about seven years old. It’s an easy escape to get thoughts out of your head so they stop bugging you. This competition is such a huge contrast to anything I’ve ever done. I can’t even put into words how nervous I am.
The teenager then sang an Ellie Goulding style version of the Elton John track ‘Your Song.’
It was cute and sweet and lovely and Janet grew in confidence and volume as she settled into the rendition.
After her performance, Kelly Rowland confessed that she had been ‘entranced,’ adding
Your voice is so beautiful. You could have heard a pin drop in here! It was so silent and because you came in here so nervous, it makes me love you even more. It was a wonderful audition.
Tulisa Contostavlos added that she loved Devlin’s ‘shy’ nature and claimed that she already has a strong ‘recording vocal.’
Louis Walsh didn’t think Janet knew how good she was and enjoyed her ‘distinctive voice.’ Of course the fact that she was Irish didn’t hurt either.
Gary Barlow was the last judge to offer his opinion and he just loved the teen singer. The Take That star raved:
“We’re trying to find someone who will eventually sell records, sell albums around the world…….not just in the UK but everywhere. You are one of those people. That was such a fantastic audition.”
Four yeses later and Janet was on her way to X Factor bootcamp, where our insiders tell us she did very well indeed!

Where is the cardigan from?
Are you deaf? Are you unable to hear how fantastic her voice is? Very few people are able to sing to such a standard without electronic aids, including many well known singers!
There’s nothing wrong with her cardigan, she looked amazing. And her voice is also amazing. Can’t wait to hear more of her
