X Factor 2011: Jesy Nelson cried before Little Mix sang Telephone / Radio Gaga mashup (VIDEO)
Little Mix were the victims of a last minute song choice this week, and it was reported that their mentor Tulisa Contostavlos gave them a new track, just one day before tonight’s live show.
The episode ran with a Lady Gaga vs Queen theme and this evening, the ladies took on a mashup of Telephone by Gaga and fittingly Radio Gaga by the iconic British rock band.
In their pre-performance VT, the ladies admitted that they are shocked they haven’t fallen victim to the girl group curse and been voted off the competition, but we’re not surprised at all….they’re the best band to hit the show since JLS.
Before they took to the stage, Jesy Nelson broke down in tears because she was so nervous but by the time the song started, they seemed to have put the difficulties behind them and we loved the way they mixed the two popular songs.
JUDGES COMMENTS
LOUIS WALSH: Girls there is a massive gap in the UK market for a girl band. I love the image and styling and I think you have a big future.
KELLY ROWLAND: You know I love you guys, I enjoyed the performance but the vocals at the top were a bit shaky. But as the songs progressed you got better and better. I do want you to tighten up those harmonies.
GARY BARLOW: Girls I feel a little bit disappointed in you tonight, not because of the performance but just because I feel it’s becoming predictable. Too obvious with the song choice. Tulisa it feels like you are running out of ideas for these girls.
TULISA CONTOSTAVLOS: They are finding a direction musically, they are finding a market and a fanbase.
