X Factor 2011: John Adams wows Gary Barlow with his favourite song
John Adams may have been incredibly nervous when he took to the X Factor stage for his audition this year, but by the end of his audition he had won himself one very famous fan.
The 23 year old singer from Aberdare tried out for the ITV show in Cardiff earlier this summer and before taking to the stage told Dermot O’Leary:
Winning this competition would mean a lot to me I want people to know who I am, know my music, and for strangers to sing my songs, so I’ll hopefully go out and do my best.
The maths teacher then sang Cannonball by Damien Rice for the panel and they were taken aback by his original tone.
Tulisa: You have a beautiful tone, and I can see that you’re very nervous, but that can be worked on. You know, you can see that emotionally you’re very connected, your vocals were very emotional, I think you’ve got a lot of potential.
Louis: I was surprised; I wasn’t expecting you to have such a very unusual voice. I think we’ve found somebody that could actually make great records.
Gary: John that is one of my favourite songs of all time, and I hate people singing my favourite songs, because it always lets me down, you absolutely nailed that vocal! Well done.
Tune into ITV1 tomorrow at 8pm to find out if John won himself a place in bootcamp.
