X Factor 2011: Marcus Collins and Gary Barlow duet on ‘Always a Woman’ (VIDEO)
Marcus Collins and Gary Barlow performed together for the first time ever on tonight’s X Factor live final.
The Take That star announced earlier in the week that he and his final contestant would take to the stage this evening, to sing Billy Joel’s ‘She’s Always a Woman’ for the 10,000 strong audience and Collins admitted that he wasn’t nervous at all, but knew he would be calm as long as he was with his mentor.
The Liverpudlian singer admitted that he was dedicating the song to his mum, to show his gratitude for all the sacrifices she made for him since he was a child.
The song started with Gary on the piano and wearing one of his trademark velvet blazers. Marcus soon joined him and we have to admit, we got quite caught up in the emotion of the moment. We must have a soft spot for mummy’s boys!
The only negative point we would make about the performance is, we found ourselves quite glad that Marcus never found himself in one of the manufactured X Factor boybands, because his solo vocals may be amazing, but harmonising skills aren’t quite strong enough.
After the song Gary said:
Honestly Marcus has been incredible, one of the great things about him is he listens. he takes on board what you have to say and comes back even better. he has done that for ten weeks running.
Collins added:
It’s a dream come true, this has been unforgettable.

Loved the duet want to download it!
Love this! Never normally like cover versions, but delicately sung and the harmonies are so beautiful.
Yes but no-one notice Gary’s piano was fake? None of the keys were moving as he pretended to play it. Go rewind and watch in slo mo. Talk about fake factor !
Enjoyed the show, but what really spolied it for me
was the fact that Gary Barlow mimed playing the piano
on the duet- `She`s Always a Woman` with Marcus.
Could be totallly wrong of course!
Why not ask Gary?
