Two of the hunkiest – and also the most successful – boybands to ever graduate from The X Factor returned tonight and pulled together to perform quite an interesting little mashup.

One Direction and JLS joined forces and mixed two of their biggest hit singles – What Makes You Beautiful and She Makes Me Wanna – for this evening’s X Factor final, much to the delight of the 10,000 audience members in Wembley Arena.

JLS first released She Makes Me Wanna in July of this year and it stormed straight to the top of the UK single charts.

In September, the One Direction boys followed suit and as well as breaking a number of pre-sales records, the track debuted at number one in Britain, becoming the fastest-selling single of the year with first week sales of 153,965 copies.

JLS started the performance this evening, being lowered to the stage on a huge platform and then came the ‘ohh ohh ohh ohh ohh ohh.’ We loved it from the first line!

The stage had loads of fire and flashes but we were so totally caught up in the boy’s energy that we really didn’t notice every bit of the production.

The teenagers came next and Liam Payne delivered the first verse as they descended. One Direction have really grown on us in recent months and no one could deny their appeal. However, we still think Harry Styles should avoid solo lines, or else just his line in What Makes You Beautiful, as either it’s out of his range or he isn’t that strong a vocalist.

Our favourite bit of the performance was when the bands mixed and mashed their two songs and split across the stage. It was really quite impressive indeed!
