X Factor 2011 Results: Who left? Craig Colton or Amelia Lily?
Craig Colton has been eliminated from The X factor.
Tonight’s bottom two was quite surprising and no one expected Amelia Lily to be in the bottom two alongside the Liverpudlian star, but we knew it would be a shocker from the moment Dermot announced that Misha B was safe.
Craig started the sing off this evening, performing ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.’ It was a stripped back and emotional rendition of a classic song and definitely showed not only Colton’s range but also the light and shade of his voice and his ability to inject real feeling into a performance. We’re not sure that it was the best song choice though and as much as we enjoyed the start of it, by the end of we have to admit to getting a little bored. Craig was in the bottom two because of his predictability and we don’t feel that this track addressed that problem at all….if anything it reinforced Louis Walsh’s and Tulisa’s concerns.
Amelia was next up and performed ‘You and I’ by Lady Gaga. it was a much better song choice and proved that the young singer is not only a great vocalist but also a current artist, with real potential ahead. Our only real complaint was about the arrangement of the track, we feel that the backing could have been a little more upbeat and exciting, but we doubt that Lily had any control over that.
JUDGES COMMENTS:
GARY BARLOW: Two completely different ways of taking on a save me song tonight, Amelia you shouted your way through that, Craig yours was understated and gorgeous. I save Craig, and send Amelia home.
TULISA CONTOSTAVLOS: I have to base it on tonight’s performance and the one that moved me the most. The act I am sending home is Amelia.
KELLY ROWLAND: My darling you did not shout. Craig I love your voice, I think you are incredible but the act I am sending home is Craig.
LOUIS WALSH: I thought the sing off was incredible, both of you were amazing. I have loved you from day one Craig but I think Amelia is a world wide ready made popstar. The act I am sending home is Craig.
The result then went to deadlock and Dermot announced that the act receiving the fewest public votes was Craig.
On hearing the result he said:
I’ve had the time of my life and he did it all with me, so thanks Gary. Thank you everyone that voted and I’ve done myself proud so I’m made up.
A disappointed Gary Barlow added:
Amazing Craig, well done. Everybody in here tonight heard the might of your voice. Good luck for the future, please stay in touch. Anything you ever need from me, all you have to do is ask.

so glad misha b is in!!!
Suprised that Amelia Lily was in the bottom 2 and I’m aged 11 goes to Southroyd(in Pudsey) and is fat and ugly. I don’t like misha b meeeee!
Craig was so much better with his save me sing. Amelia doesn’t deserve to win it, she hasn’t performed half of the liveshows! Beside that, she is so full of herself and really annoying. She should go next week.

What a fix x factor apologises for announcing amelia lilly is coming back before voting is finished. I dont blame the kid good luck to her. But please stop taking the michael out of the public I now feel like everything is fixed. I will never watch another series of x factor Craig being sent home is a joke he has worked his backside off since day one. I still believe Johnny should have been brought back for fairness last one out first one back public had paid good money for their votes even if he had the least votes. Amelia lilly at that time had cost no person a penny,I always thought she was good but Kelly Rowland got rid of her so nit should be no return.
Well I just cannot believe Craig has left X Factor! no way will it be the same, Craig had the best voice range, versitility and emotion in every song he sung, with regards to Emilia-Lily being brought back to the show, that should not have been allowed and Offcom should see into it! sorry to see you go Craig but Ill be first in the queue to buy your album when you bring it out and good luck for your future singing career, you will have the most successful career out of all the contestants that are left
Gary’s comment about Amelia was disgraceful. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion but that was plain spiteful and could’ve jeopardized the other judges decisions. Gary needs to go, soon. I’m gutted to see Craig went home, but I gotta be honest that Amelia did it better.
well what can i say craig was far better its not fair amelia came back a fix, what they should have done when franky left , was that nobody was to go cos franky had gone , well am sorry amelia doesnt deserve to win no way , should have been her voted off hope she is nxt week n misha b
X factor is fixed full stop! It’s a joke, bringing Amelia back half way through a contest, should of been Johnny who was the last one out or a safe week for everybody. Last nights exit of Craig was a travesty.
remember From week 8 there is no bottom two, with the finalist receiving the least amount of votes leaving the show.
