X Factor 2011: Samantha Brookes goes a bit ‘karaoke’ at bootcamp
Samantha Brookes was elated to win a place in the final X Factor bootcamp rounds, but some of the judges weren’t sure she stood out enough from the crowd.
The busty brunette told Dermot O’Leary that she was thrilled to be living her dream but ‘terrified’ about performing again and said:
“I didn’t expect to get this far, initially when I went for the audition is was just expecting maybe one yes or two yeses…I can’t even put into words how I feel, I am absolutely petrified…you have a dream when you’re little and mine is I just want to sing and I want people to give me a chance and not look at the outside and think ‘I wouldn’t put a poster of her on my wall’, you know I probably wouldn’t fit on the wall anyway…I pray to get I get through today…I really want to get through.”
She then launched into a rendition of Grenade by Bruno Mars for the panel and the 5,000 strong audience in Wembley Arena.
Afterwards, Tulisa Contostavlos aired some of her concerns, saying:
“She has an amazing voice, but the only thing I’m worried about is that I only really got excited on the last chorus…it was a bit tiny bit cabaret for me.”
Louis Walsh added:
“A little bit but that’s what she is.”
Tune in tonight to see Sami’s audition and let us know if you enjoyed it, or do you side with Tulisa?
