X Factor 2011: Simon Cowell threatens to quit over Cheryl Cole!
Simon Cowell has reportedly threatened to pull the plug on an American version of The X Factor, if bosses don’t agree to have Cheryl Cole on the judging panel.
US TV executives are said to be concerned that the public won’t understand or warm to the Girls Aloud star and would much rather Simon chose a home-grown star than another Brit.
An X Factor insider told The Daily Star:
“Simon is clashing heads with US producers who don’t want Cheryl on board.
“Bosses are convinced the show needs big US stars to compete with the star-studded line-up of American Idol.
“The American public don’t know who Cheryl is and just ‘being a good friend of Simon’s from some unknown girlband’ isn’t cutting it.”
However Simon is refusing to back down on the issue and is insisting that the public will love her in the States, just as they did in the UK.
The source added:
“Simon’s had some heated phone calls with the producers. He thinks Cheryl is perfect for the role.”

Initially she was loved, but she’s done a lot of harm to herself over the past year. First the whole thing with Gamu, her comments to Wagner, and just the air of superiority she now tries to wield.
On the X Factor official website they conducted a poll on the best judge, and she came last, behind Louis Walsh, that would have been unthinkable a year ago.
Dannii has now taken the crown of the most loved judge on X factor, which again is incredible, as 2 years ago, people were begging for her to be sacked to keep Sharon.
Cheryl’s star is quickly fading, as Wagner didn’t say, she’s just a girl from the estate who got lucky, she was in the bottom 2 many times on Pop stars the rivals, barely managing to scrape into the top 5 (a bit like her protege Cher Lloyd in fact) then she got picked up by Will.I.AM as part of a series on Girls aloud doing separate things, and from that got noticed by Simon Lothario Cowell, who keeps the women while its novel and hes infatuated, and drops them soon after (poor mezyghan)
If Cole does get put on The US X Factor, it will be fun to finally see her fail. Many “much loved” UK celebrities go over there thinking they can be successful too, and then have to come running back. Robbie Williams, Lily Allen etc.
If a mega star like Leona is having trouble breaking in to America what chance does Cheryl Cole have?

I can’t agree more!! I don’t live in the UK, but I can tell you; It’s only in the UK you hate her! In other countries we love her! She seems to be very lovely and down-to-earth and beautiful. And we can follow the X-factor in other countries, and read your newspapers! I have bougth her albums, and I like her music, and I think she is a good judge too! To hate on her because she didn’t choose the act you would like her to choose is childish! She’s the one to choose the act she think is the best! And she proved she did the right choice!I really think she doesn’t deserve all these. And for sure she doesn’t deserve the hate directed at her.She hasn’t done anything wrong!

this isn’t true. I know that because it says that X Factor US needs to compete with American Idol. They are both on FOX and AI airs in January and X Factor airs in September, theres no competition. I hope the rumors that Simon is going after Noel Gallagher are true. It’d be a smart move for Noel since it would help him break America. I live in America and really don’t care if Cheryl Cole is a judge or not.
Cheryl wont do well in the states.. you have to have some degree of talent.. and a pseudo celebrity just aint gonna cut it.

Cheryl is a person, just like every other celebrity. People sometimes get fed up by the media and believe stories that aren’t true. The woman has feelings, give her a break.
And for the record. I’m not from the UK, I’m from Holland. I didn’t knew Cheryl until I saw this audition vid on YT with Cheryl as a judge. I immediatly saw the woman has something special. At that point I didn’t knew she was in GA, I didn’t know anything about her.
Since then I’ve been following The X Factor and Cheryl. So if I started to like Cheryl from one vid and didn’t knew a thing of her, the US people are gonna do the same.

Max King is CORRECT!!! People in England seem to forget just how large the US is both in population and geography and know virtually nothing about the various regions. It’s not the same in the US now as when the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Rod Stewart, etc., etc., etc. made it big here. There are sooo many different musical genres now. Even the American Idol tour cut a lot of dates and ended early. It will be interesting to see if Piers Morgan’s show is even going to make it. If Simon and Cheryl think that she is going to be an instant success… wow, what foolish thinking. Actually I changed my mind about Cole, I don’t want her. I’m tending to not believe that Simon would actually pull the plug on US X Factor over this (it’s his dream; why would he cut off his nose to spite his face), but if he really is serious about bringing Cheryl over here as a judge, my advice to him is DON’T. She will absolutely not fly here in America. She has nothing new to bring to the table, and her accent will be impossible to understand here. Even people in the UK have trouble understanding her. You don’t want viewers saying, “What did she say?” and hitting the rewind button again and again, nor do you want American contestants asking her to repeat her critiques of their performances. US X Factor needs to have as many dynamic American personalities as possible, save for Simon, who should be the lone Brit. Sorry, but while she may be the Nation’s Sweetheart on the other side of the pond (though she did lose quite a bit of her luster last season), Americans are not going to be jumping up and down over her.

Talent has nothing to do with it. Britney Spears has NO TALENT at all and she is a big star in America. I don’t think however the Americans will be able to understand Cheryl’s accent.
I hope that US X Factor producers fight as much as they can. I cannot stand Cheryl. She only has the looks. How popular she was on UK’s version??? Her star is fading, evryone now likes Dannii. What Simon needs on his judging panel is not Cheryl, and not a star-studded lineup. Ever since first Paula and then Simon left American Idol, the role of the judge has been cheapened and trivialized by the quest for starpower over expertise. It’s not What’s My Line, and it’s not the Grammys. Instead of recruiting self-promoting celebrities who are more about increasing their own profile than helping aspiring singers become recording artists, Simon needs to hire industry experts who have worked with various big names, rather than big names themselves. He can take an example from Paula’s Live to Dance panel, who are known as “experts” rather than judges, because that’s what they are. In addition to Ms. Abdul herself, she’s got a lesser-known member of the Pussycat Dolls, and a renowned choreographer who has worked with Michael Jackson. It’s about judges becoming superstars, not superstars becoming judges; get 3 unknown or little known music business people on board, and they will become famous and well-loved in the role of judges, instead of being already famous when they take their seats.

She’s a fraud!!! She got so much sympathy over ashley, however the reality is she didn’t treat him well at all, the bedroom door was always shut!
Then she goes on to judge a talent contest with out any talent mimes all her live shows,and can not dance at all. Camera never does close ups on some of her performances! All she good at is manipulating silly men / producers into thinking they have a chance…
People will turn around and say “and who the hell are you?” to cheryl as they dont know her… well lets hope she does well and usa like her…
