Margaret and Neil Sinclair will make their X factor debut on tonight’s episode, but the duo weren’t at all happy with the judges after their audition.
The married couple showed up to London’s O2 arena earlier this year, to try out for the ITV show but let’s just say their immense self confidence was a little misplaced.
They admitted to Dermot O’Leary that they got married three years ago, after meeting via a dating agency and we think you’ll agree when you watch them on the show, they totally seem like the type.
Margaret, 52, auditioned first and told the judges:
“I want to be a singer; I’ve always wanted to be a singer. I’m actually here with my husband as well. He’s going to sing after me… We met on internet dating; it was love at first sight to be honest.”
She then launched into a rendition of Superstar by The Carpenters and the judges didn’t love any of it.
Kelly Rowland stopped the music before the song was over and Tulisa Contostavlos said:
“I think you should keep the singing for you and your husband because it’s very sweet, just not to the ears.”
“But some people get past the nerves, and they’ll actually hit a rally good note, but this didn’t happen in this audition. So I’m going to be honest with you; I didn’t think it was a great audition.”
Gary Barlow concluded:
“I thought it was a very poor audition, and I think we’re going to vote right now.”
However, the horrors didn’t end there. Next up was Neil, who decided to sing Crocodile Rock by Elton John.
The panel didn’t enjoy his performance any more than his wife’s. They commented:
Gary: It’s funny, I love Elton John, but I’ve always hated that song. I truly detest it right now.
Kelly: I have to be honest with you; it was really hard to listen to. Louis?
Louis: Neil, I don’t think singings for you at all. I think you should sing at home to each other. You’re definitely not what we’re looking for on the show.
Tune in at 8pm tonight to see if Neil and Margaret make bootcamp and knowing Louis Walsh, they just might!
