X Factor 2012 1st Results: Who left? Gary Barlow storms off as Carolynne Poole loses to Rylan Clark
The X Factor first results show literally just aired and after only one performance and one live show, already an act has been eliminated from the ITV series.
BBC bosses had the heart to allow their Strictly Come Dancing contestants to perform twice this year, before sending one of their celebs home but ITV producers are not that kind and after offering a lifeline to wildcard contestant Christopher Maloney last night, tonight they destroyed the dreams of one other act.
Bookies have been tipping MK1 to leave all week, however today they changed their odds somewhat, making fellow Team Louis group District 3 their odds on favourite to go home, followed by MK1 and then by Union J and Carolynne Poole.

Revealing the results this evening, Dermot O’Leary caused shock around the nation when he confirmed that all three groups had won enough votes to make it through to next week’s show, while Carolynne Poole and Rylan Clark had polled the lowest support and would be competing in the sing off.
Rylan was first up to the stage, singing ‘One Night Only’ as his save me song. It was pretty dire and if he wanted to showcase his vocals then this was not the song for Clark. We were sure that not even Katie Price could save him after that tuneless performance. Nicole clapped and cheered along throughout the track, but Gary Barlow looked secretly content in the knowledge that Carolynne should easily beat the Essex hopeful. If only he knew…..
Next up was Poole and she took on Faith Hill’s ‘There You’ll Be’ as her last ditch attempt to remain in the competition. It was a competent and strong performance and while the song choice was predictable, we thought Caz did it justice and more.
She looked pretty amazing too in her figure hugging black mini dress and dark smoky eye makeup. Perhaps if she had been styled like this last night, she would have won more votes.
JUDGES COMMENTS:
TULISA: I love Rylan as a performer and entertainer, with Carolynne she has an amazing voice. I have to base it on that performance and it hurts me to say it but I have to send home Rylan.
NICOLE: Carolynne you are a beautiful and effortless singer but I have to stick with my boy.
GARY: Carolynne thank God you got to sing like that, this makes it easy for all the judges. Rylan I’m glad you learned the truth that if you pull the mic away we cant hear you singing.
LOUIS: Carolynne I love country music and what you bring to the competition. It’s so hard….I want to save Carolyne….no I want to send it to deadlock.
It was all very confusing and we’re pretty sure that Louis didn’t know who he was saving, but as it did eventually go to deadlock, Dermot revealed that the act with the fewest votes was Carolynne and she was leaving the competition.
Gary Barlow stormed off when he heard the news and we are patiently awaiting the uproar!

Louis was told to take it to deadlock if you noticed there was someone speaking to louis during the performance,this was 100% put up to keep him in,the X factor has lost a lot of credibility tonight.

I saw the man talking to Louis straight away, and thought the worst of it, absolute joke. Obviously the show are that desperate for viewers that they need to keep that tit in.
I am furious, Louis chose to save carolynne and then looked away and looked back and went to deadlock, I agree someone told him to take it to deadlock. This should not be allowed to happen. What the hell is the point of even getting them to sing a last song at the end of the show to fight for their place if things like this happen.its a bloody fix, I’m sure the ratings will go down after this and I hope they bloody do as I won’t be watching this crap anymore.

This makes me sick. This is meant to be a singing contest not an entertainment contest. Carolynne sings beautifully and Rylan can’t sing at all. More importantly this show is messing with people’s lives and careers. The public, god bless em’ can’t be trusted to make the right decision so we should rely on the judges who apparently know talent when they see it? Clearly not. As Kernow says, Louis should be ashamed and if anyone has any morals they should not watch X Factor again and therefore not give Simon the privilege of having his pockets lined! I also noticed the shady character talking to Walsh and commented to my family that this would go to deadlock with Rylan retained as he is better for the press and ratings. Carolynne is probably too boring for the show. Surprise surprise that is what exactly happened. Poor Carolynnne. How can the producers mess with people’s lives that way. Not for the first time this show has lost it’s integrity. The producers should be ashamed of themselves and the ITV watchdogs should launch an immediate investigation. Well done Gary. Nothing stood out about Carolynne, I’m not surprised she was voted off. That song she did was cringe-fest, her styling was dated- awful! Rylan may not be a great singer but he does entertain, he does perform, he’s controversial, everything he does is dramatic and is remembered. all that equals higher ratings. Louis just did what he’s paid to do – as, i suspect, Nicole did by ‘choosing’ Rylan- pretended to judge.

I look up to and respect louis so much, he didn’t just go with the majority because he didn’t know, he went to what the public thought because its the public who watch it so sending it to deadlock ensures that the publics overall favourite stays. Its not louis’ fault that rylan stayed, it’s the publics. People are so nasty to louis all the time and it makes me so angry, he has more expirience at judging than any other judge on the panel therefore should be respected by them all, I used to look up to gary barlow so much but he’s just turned in to a bully. I was watching with my two young children who looked completely shocked that such a talentless act stayed in. What does this teach kids about ‘being the best’ after a fabulous summer when athletes slogged their guts out for gold medals. This won’t be on in our household again this year. At the end of the day, Louis Walsh is the only one on that panel that knows what he’s doing, and is really in any position to judge talent. Carolyn or Ryland would never have won, but one would generate public interest and viewers, one doesn’t, it’s obvious who’d be saved, especially when you consider the show is losing more and more viewers every single week.
No one told him who to vote, and if they did, we wouldn’t know. They wouldn’t walk up to him and tell him, he has an ear peice in for comments directly from the director or producers.

It’s funny but when Carolyn was singing Louie Walsh was distracted but man that came up onto the side stage and was talking to Him and I thought at that point what is he doing then it came to my attention he was telling Louie what to do but I did not say anything but after he had voted and sent it to deadlock I showed my partner what I had seen. And it does look like he was told to send it to deadlock, so it did look like it was a fix not happy.

I understand that Carolynne got the least amount of votes and at deadlock had to go, but how many contestants before her have been in the same position and the judges have wisely seen that they have a telant and should be given the chance to improve? Louie is professional and knows the score, so you have to ask, who is pulling his strings?!

Dermot said WHO do you want to send home? and Louis said he wants to keep Carolynne, so Dermot had to ask the same question again because Louis did not fully answer the question. And then Louis said, I want to take it to deadlock. So when Dermot asks the question for the second time, Louis still did not really give a proper answer to it, if that is the case, surely it shouldn’t go to deadlock. Why couldn’t they accept that Louis said save Carolynne the first time, but instead accepted that he said deadlock right at the last minute. It’s just so unfair, I feel so sorry for Carolynne, she deserves to go through. I think they should change the result, coz it’s not right.

Have stopped watching Sundays results show too long and drawn out just an extra night of cheap telly. On seeing all the comments tonight I’m glad I didn’t. It always has a joke act but this years is worse than usual!!

I think carolynne is one of the best singers ever in X factor. As an avid fan of the show(not any more!!!!!!) I expected so much more. Louis you are such a wally, so is mr cowel. Poor poor carolynne. Walk away Gary and Tulsa.

The man talking to Louis was too obvious, even my 9 year old daughter realised that he was telling him to choose Rylan. What is the point of voting if it’s all fixed. What a complete crock of crap the sing off was, I thought Rylan was out of tune and flat, this guy just wants fame he’s tried modelling on Katie prices show now he’s killed someone else’s dream, I’m not stupid enough to think Carolyn would have one and I could tell you 9 others that won’t win, but to some its about putting yourself in the shop window, other things come from that, when this goes tits up for Rylan, he’ll just move onto another show stating ” it’s something he’s always wanted to do”, bullshit u want fame end of, as for X factor, falling ratings, fix allegations, phone lines not working, and now u can vote and spend your hard earned cash as soon as they go on air without hearing the acts, er how does that work, Cowell get some credibility back, come and give this limp failing dinosaur a kick up the backside and make things more transparent if not its your funeral
Is this a competition or a freak show? Rylan can’t sing and his last performance was appalling – out of tune and cringe worthy. Carolynne was far, far better. The whole show will collapse if it loses all credibility. If this is a Music competition then allow it to be one and stop trying to push the freaks and weirdos!

I really hope that anyone who has vowed not to watch this farce anymore, sticks to their comments and does just that. I once believed this show was about finding the next singing sensation. How wrong was I ? Then again had Rylan gone, they would not have been able to do the sketch with him naked everywhere on the Xtra Factor show either this week or any other week. Louis Walsh, it’s a singing contest. You ought to judge honestly on performance. You mumbled, dithered, said that you were saving Carolynne, changed your mind and said you wanted deadlock. I am sorry but you discredited yourself and lost credibility to the show. Carolynne in the sing-off was easily the best. I now believe, along with many others, that the show is not attempting to find the best singer, and is fixed.

Nicole clearly thought she was a judge on ‘Britain’s got (no) Talent’ by harping on that the X-Factor’s about entertainment- WRONG. And as for Walsh… he’s either a gutless coward or there has been some definite fixing. The gulf between the two performances was intergalactic; that the poor girl’s last shot at fame has been dumped for that hideous man… the sad thing is that the producers are probably chuffed at the controversy as it’ll boost ratings- scum who play in people’s lives and hopes. It is obvious the vote counts are made up too. Carolynne was the best on sat nite. The voting system should be changed because texting to vote makes the networks very busy many votes getdelayed. Like new year messages, most arrive many hours later because of the chaos, so in this case long after voting has closed, hence some not getting th.eir true score. Itv or the show wont care as the money is rolling in. They will cheat to fix it how they want it to go anyway. Don’,t bother to vote. Don’t watch again after tonights fiasco.
I am really gutted about the X Factor, I have no problem with ryland but think that X Factor is at its heart a singing competition, if you are an entertainer you should be in BGT…I really like Lucy but feel BGT would have been a better place for her, she could actually win that show..X Factor has to been about singing, I have no feel passion for country music, but it would be nice to hear something other than the same covers we hear every year. Louie and dermout were clearly told the rylan had to stay, you only had watch dermout trying to explain himself on xtrafactor to see he was embarrassed and ashamed he was put in that position..Gary pretended to walk off..had he GENUINILY meant it..he would not have been back tail between his legs 5 mins later…the way his life went after take that split…and his personel sadness recently he should now how life can be a bugger, if he had real guts, he would leave and send the message that playing with people’s lives is just plain wrong, the judges are there to stop this happening, when for whatever reason a good singer is in the bottom 2 they can save them….why have a sing off if it makes no difference anyway..if you want to kick out the act with least votes fair enough just do viewers votes every week….then we only have ourselves to blame for not voting……poor Carolyne spent 2 years to just get kicked of for rating…it will backfire, 2 million down on last year and will fall further….any show MUST have credibility …time to stop watching everyone

To be honest I expect the show to be fixed and that doesn’t bother me too much. However, my main gripe is that Louis clearly saved Carolynne and then it was ripped away from her. That was totally unfair on her.

I liked Gary Barlow until he started nasty comments to Rylan. He doesn’t play the role of Simon well. Clearly this is about drama and ratings. Personally, I love Rylan and so did the live audience and the public vote put him above Carolyne. Gary walking off (booed by the audience) is more than disgusting. As I said, he doesn’t play Simon well and have lost all interest in him and what he has to say. These shows always go to public vote to increase drama. I am not surprised by the outcome. Rylan got more votes. Good for him. I hope I see much more of him. Watching XFactor has made me thoroughly dislike Gary Barlow.

The whole thing I believe is a ratings pusher. Remember its all about tv entertainment. And they don’t even call them singers, they are referred to as ‘acts’. Louis may be criticised for his judgement but at the end of the day it was the public that chose who stayed.

its a fix from the start as the judges do not see you from day one your seen by a producer which seem to know nothing about singing and only want people who make a scene and are totally rubbish or who are real good.
What makes me most angry is the fact Carolyne got to judges houses last time and then to live shows this time only for her dream to be shattered once more i think its absoloutly disgusting and out of order what the show is doing to decent people.

I’m not really a fan of Carolynne but she is by far the better singer and should have stayed. Louis should have had the courage to send Rylan home. He’s only there for the ‘drama’ and to make people tune in. I don’t always agree with the judges’ choices and we all have our favourites but let’s hope this is not going to be a re-run of the ‘Wagner’ saga.
I think gary leaving the stage was uncalled for , And who gave him the right to be cruel to ryan . If you have notting nice to say about someone dont say anything at all. Things he said about ryan could drive any one into suicide

This may sound like I’m over acting but my step dad has the most incredible voice and does gigs and all he was going to audition next year for the chance to follow his dream but now we won’t let go as it will just crush him when its a no and he fails to a attention seeking out of tune jerk. I now thinly that as many people that as many people as we can get on board any way possible e.g: Email, Facebook, Twitter so on so on to tell everyone who watches that they must not watch x factor next week and that we can still check online for who goes out and we can teach itv a lesson in not makin it a fix and crushing dreams. I was a bit embarrassed to admit that I watched the X Factor but I saw it as a bit of entertainment and I like the idea of young people with talent getting an opportunity to achieve. That has changed since I saw the last program on ITV player. Perhaps I was very naive but when Louis didn’t have the balls to vote for the best singer then I lost heart. Like many others I will no longer choose X Factor as entertainment. I wish Carolyne all the very best – she deserved to win in this heat.
Carolynne was is the best the rest ain’t very good I will be watching dancing on ice from now on .

Everything about the result was staged! Even for Gary to walk off. That was done to make it all the more dramatic. Carolynne was the better one of the two and shouldn’t have been in the sing-off anyway. Leave Rylan alone, after all look at some of the acts that have gone through in the past. It’s all done so that we keep watching. It was all decided what was going to happen before the result was televised. Don’t keep blaming Louis. It’s a tv programme for heavens sake, don’t take it so serious.
