X Factor 2012 bootcamp: Were Rylan Clark’s ‘Don’t Cha’ and huge shoulder spikes enough to help him make judges houses? (VIDEO)
Rylan Clark combined his love of fashion and singing when he showed up to X Factor bootcamp earlier this year.
The former winner of Katie Price’s search for a model was seen impressing the ITV judges a few weeks ago and winning himself a place in the next round. When he showed up to Liverpool, in a bid to make it through to judges houses, Rylan made sure he would stand out from the crowd by wearing a black jacket with HUGE metal spikes on the shoulder.
Louis Walsh – who is not normally known for his fashion sense – told the hopeful:
“Rylan, I like the outfit!
Clark replied:
“I’m liking all of yours as well.”
He explained how he chose the clothes saying:
“So today is like the climax of outfits if you like. We’ve got the blazer, we’ve got the spikes going on, I feel like I’m going to poke myself in the face. I’m hoping Nicole’s gonna like it because she likes a bit of this.”
He added:
“This is my only chance I’m gonna get to show you guys what I’m all about and I’m a dancer that’s what I want to be. I wanna sing dance songs, Ibiza all the way through and through. I’m not a Whitney wannabe, I’m never ever gonna be a Whitney. Trust me on that one.”
The wannabe then sang ‘Don’t Cha’ by The Pussycat Dolls for the panel.
Afterwards he told the judges that despite his jokey exterior, he is 100% serious about his music career.
“I am serious about this, especially to you Gary I ain’t taking this as a joke,” he said.
“I enjoy myself while I’m here but this is 100% serious, and if it gives me the opportunity to do this in front of these guys again I’ll be honoured, so thank you that’s it.”
However, things took a turn for the worse as Rylan left the stage and hugged presenter Dermot O’Leary. He clearly forgot about the HUGE metal spikes on his shoulder and managed to impale the newly married star on them.
Clark exclaimed:
“I’ve spiked him, I’ve spiked Dermot!”
Poor old Dermy.
