X Factor 2012 bootcamp: Tulisa takes a shine to Joseph Whelan – Gary Barlow wants to be James Arthur-ed at judges houses!

Joseph Whelan took to the stage on tonight’s X Factor show, performing for more than 5,000 people in Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

Before singing, the dad of one told producers:

“For me this is make or break. I’ve got so much riding on it, I’m not just doing this for me, I’m doing it for my son to give him a better life so I really don’t want to let him down. If I had to go back to work on Monday it would destroy me inside. Having a taste of all this is amazing and going back to selling tools on a Monday morning wouldn’t be what I would want to do at all. I really think that this is my time, now is the time to do it. I don’t want to do it next year, or the year after, I want to do it now.”

Tulisa asked the hunk:

“What is it about you that could take you all the way to the final?”

Whelan explained:

“Watching the show through the years, everyone’s been crying out for a good rock singer not just a middle of the road one and I really think I’m the man for that.”

The crowd seemed to love his performance and gave Joe a standing ovation after he sang.

After he left the stage Tulisa mused:

“He’s a hottie….I like him, He sang well, he plays good guitar and he’s cute, Hes quite classic, he’s got that classic rock voice.”

Nicole added:

‘He looks like he would be a friend of mine and we’d all be hanging around the camp fire and passing around the guitar and singing. Is he a star?’

Joseph told the panel:

“To get through to the judges Houses would mean absolutely everything to me, I really want the opportunity to go further and show more of what I can do.”

“I hope it’s good news because If not I’d probably break down, it would destroy me if I’m not through.”

Next up was James Arthur. The nervous singer confessed:

“I never expected I would be this close to going to Judges Houses. I’m absolutely buzzing it feels amazing. I’m taking a risk today because I’m doing a mash up. I want to show the audiences and the judges what I can do with a song that one of the best song writers in the country has written. So I guess it all rests on today.”

He told the panel that he was ‘very nervous but excited’ before singing A Million Love Songs. The crowd went wild for his song and afterwards, Arthur said:

“I just wanted to do Gary proud to be honest.”

The Take That star couldn’t be happier and raved:

“You know what James, you made an amazing job of Tulisa’s Young in your audition, you’ve done an incredible job of A MIllion Love Songs. I think people are going to be writing to you requesting to be James Arthur-d because that was brilliant, well done.”

Afterwards Nicole declared:

“I love him.”

Tulisa added:

“He’s got that Plan B vibe but he’s himself!”

Do you think the lads’ performances were good enough to win them a place in the next round? Leave your comments below…

Meanwhile, as we prepare for the judges houses episodes of the show to air next weekend, Unreality TV have put together out predictions for his year’s X Factor final 12. Have a look and tell us if you agree!

  2. Donna says:

Joseph should have been a definate he had his own style and would have added the rock element to the show! Each of his performances have been spot on unlike others that have gone through. Can’t believe this error by the Judges highly disappointed

I really don’t understand this show, how can u leave Joseph out ? You put through instead some one who likes Ibiza but can’t sing ? Sort it out ! No wonder your loosing viewers add me too the list now.

  4. Jayne says:

Gutted, I am no singer nor judge, but have watched this show every year,Joseph Whelan should have gone through, the crowd loved him and so do I. Cant believe the guy who likes ibiza went through, wont be watching this year!!!!

  5. Chris Parratt says:

Absolutely disgusted that Joseph Whelan was axed from the bootcamp, I agree with others that the X Factor seem to pick mediocre musicians that just make the judges or audience laugh rather than ones that have real talent, I for one won’t be watching this show again

They’ve got it all wrong this year.
It shouldnt be over 28s it should be over 25s.

Because then Joseph Whelan probably would of gotten through if it was over 25s.

and the unpopular opinion and everyone on here will disagree and kill me, Eddy String should of gotten through.

    Over 25s – Joseph Whelan
    Boys 16-24 – Eddy String

I could not believe Joseph Whelan was booted off last night and agree with the above comments. What’s going on????!!!! Hopefully they’ll bring him back as a wildcard or some other stunt, like they do. Was really looking forward to seeing what he would sing next and thought he was a top 3 contender. He has the X Factor!!!!
