X Factor 2012: Caroline Flack warns Rylan Clark ‘will bite back’ – knew Gary Barlow would walk!
Caroline Flack has admitted that she knew Gary Barlow would storm off the X Factor set last night.
The Xtra Factor presenter was waiting in the wings as the elimination furore kicked off on the live results show and the Take That star got more and more angry with Louis Walsh.
His contestant Carolynne Poole found herself in the bottom two with Rylan Clark and after a sing off, the deciding vote lay with the Irish star, who just couldn’t seem to make up his mind.
First he opted to save the country singer, then changed his mind, sent the show to deadlock and as a result Poole left the competition for good.
On hearing the news Gary stalked away from the judges table.
Speaking on This Morning Caroline said she could feel the tension building and expected Gary to react angrily, explaining:
“I have never felt an atmosphere like that in The X Factor studio before, ever. It was very tense.”
“Gary walked off, he was very upset. From the start he hasn’t been a Rylan fan, he’s been very vocal about that. He just isn’t into what he does. I had a feeling he was going to walk off, I could see it in his face.”
Caroline later spoke to Gary on the ITV2 spinoff show and revealing what he said about the incident, Flack continued:
“He explained that it should have been based on the sing off.”
However, Harry Styles’ ex thinks it was right that Poole left and added:
“At the end of the day it did come down to the public vote. Carolynne did get the least votes. The public decided that she would be going home and not Rylan.”
After he performed his save me song, which was full of tuning and timing issues, Gary Barlow slammed Rylan saying:
“Rylan I’m glad you learned the truth that if you pull the mic away we cant hear you singing.”
Clark was about to hit back at the judge, when Dermot O’Leary interjected and brought things back to the matter in hand.
Caroline wasn’t surprised that Rylan wanted to kick off and laughed:
“Rylan is one of those people that will bite back. He is an opinionated person. He bites back on Twitter, he bit back at Gary on the live shows.”
However she insisted that he isn’t all balls and bravado and revealed that the hopeful was incredibly upset after Poole left the show last night.
She said that he feels responsible for her elimination and told Phil and Holly:
“Rylan was very, very upset last night. He was in tears all throughout the Xtra Factor.”
“He felt so incredibly bad about Carolynne leaving, almost like it was his fault but it wasn’t his fault. He is getting so much stick. Things are being said to him that shouldn’t be said to another human being.”
What do you think of Rylan retaining his place on the show? Were you surprised when Gary walked off last night? Leave your comments below….

funny thats not what she said on radio 1 this morning, these presenters are full of it
Gosh, you sound like an adopted lapdog of Simon Cowell! Gary Barlow is much more than you think! I think you are also a kind of Rylan Clark. right?
Either way…all the xfactor lot are kareoke…..
Gary Barlow is cuming across like a bully live on tv….and worse thing…..so is itvfor allowing him to, Nicole and Tulisa are wannabe’s themselves…they have had a few records….woopdee doo, every year the same s*** different day, you would think that considering there are 3 song writers on the panel…they could write the winner a song…nope….they just bring a copy out of someone elses stuff, how cheap all round. Even without Take That…..Gary is no solo artist himself…..erm….i don’t remember him big after Take That last time round…..this time he has to cling to the kareoke show for his own fame. i don’t agree that there should be catogories….there should be 1 mixed of everything then all the judges have to judge all of them as a whole group themselves…..after all the programme segregates them into catogoris…..age etc, well i thought it was equal rights, equal opportunities etc these days
Get rid of the programme for good….people re cashing in on kids to boost their own ego and bank balances
tazz
If you are that upset about the programme, don’t watch it. People enjoy the entertainment and drama the X Factor brings. As for the judges, they are all extremely competent in their own ways. Irrelevant of how they got to where they are. Sounds like a bit of jealously to me Tazz?
Carolynne was given a glimmer of hope when Louis first said that he wanted to keep her, then had that hope dashed almost immediately by Louis not knowing what he was doing and taking it to deadlock. Doesn’t matter that Carolynne had the least number of votes – the judges are meant to be an integral part of this process, and Louis copped out. They should have allowed both to go through until next week then have two voted out next weekend, after putting them through that ordeal (it is their futures, after all) – I doubt that many people would have taken it as gracefully as Carolynne did – good on her. And what a great voice! Gary was wise to walk away, or he may have punched Louis!
what exactly is the point of a sing off???? what is the point of having judges in the first place, and letting them cast a vote??? because i thought it was to save the most talented act!!!!!!!! that’s certainly not even close to what happened last night, and gary was 100% in the right. that outcome was rediculous! louis was clearly seen talking to a producer prior to the vote, pretended to struggle and drew out all the time until the very last minute. not only that, but he actually said repeatedly, and very clearly, “i want to save carolynn”…she thought that she was through, only to then “change your mind”!!!…poor carolynn. she really did not deserve that treatment, and as carole said, she handled it with such grace and humility. well done to her! and gary, you too are better than this show. next time you walk, don’t look back!
If louis had not made such a big deal out of trying to make a decision then none of that would of happened sunday night. Deadlock is there for a reason and sometimes the judges do use it as a cop-out…however, when the show first started it was supposed to be what the ”public” wanted/voted and therefore, deadlock was the right decision for me sunday as Rylan got the most votes. Personally, I could not see why Carolynn should of made it through this year as she didn’t make it last year…now, some could say that was a fix as at the mansion with Gary she clearly stated she could not take another rejection! well, she seem to handle it OK on sunday!
I like Rylan and he deserves a chance…why are most mocking him?? because he’s gorgeous, great personality and great company it seems. People are TOO quick to judge on the negatives of the Xfactor contestants and not surprisingly….. even the judges are being judged. Who’s running the show huh?
Good luck to all!
deadlock was NOT the right decision. there was a clear winner in that sing off. the judges are there to make a decision based on who is the most talented, and that person was quite clearly carolynne. THAT’S why people got angry over this – because it was blatently obvious that a producer ran up to louis to whisper in his ear and lo and behold the joke act was saved. because that’s what rylan is – this year’s joke act. nothing more. he may well be a nice guy – i’m sure he his – but he can’t sing for s**t and he shouldn’t have been put through before carolynn, or before joseph whelan before that. if he wants to be on tv then he should audition for TOWIE.
and as for the public vote, that’s a farce in and of itself – this year more that ever now that voting lines are open BEFORE any of the acts even get to sing. further proof that the “talent” part of this competition is nothing more than a front. it’s a money making popularity contest which feels no shame in messing with people’s lives and parading a freak show while it’s at it.
Rylan is so much more entertaining. I think the best decision was made. I think Rylan is fantastic and fun – he’s watchable. Carolynne is really pretty, dignified and very talented, but she was a contender to win the show. Carolynne would make a good TV presenter, and showed great grace in how she handled her sing off, with smiles and graciousness. Go RYLAN.
Sorry I meant – she was NOT a contender to win the show.
Why have a sing off when the judges are not going to use that as a basis to select the better singer.
It was quite obvious that Carolynne did a better job, Rylan was not even entertaining in the sing off, he was just singing horribly the whole time.
Great comment, I agree with you totally.
Not all these people are KARAOKE (correct spelling) singers. There are those who deserve to be in a competition, and recognized for their talents….so don’t blame them for the way the show is set up. Give them the opportunity to prove themselves.
