Carolynne Poole has been insisting that she is not too old to become a successful music star.

The 31 year old singer won a place in Gary Barlow’s final three at X Factor judges houses and will perform on tomorrow’s live show for the first time.

Gaz and his hopefuls have been hitting out all week at their category name and they all seem to universally hate their title ‘The Overs’, which of course stands for the over 28s.

Barlow has suggested that bosses rename them Team GB, though we don’t see that sticking and speaking to Hello, Carolynne insisted that her age should not be an issue for her yet.

She said:

“We’ve got a bit of a bad reputation as a category but we’re not the over-and-outs. We’re not the past-it’s.”

“I want to show them that 30s are the new 20s and we can be just as good as the young’uns!”

Poole loves a bit of country music and showcased her gentle lilt and Carrie Underwood like tone at bootcamp and auditions earlier this year.

She’s not trying to be edgy or contemporary but thinks she has something different to bring to the competition and added:

“I don’t have to pretend I’m down with the kids. I know I’m not Jessie J.

“But I want to bring a bit of that fun country music to X Factor. It’s a pop show and I think I can bring big, epic songs and big production to it.”

Carolynne has been preparing for the live shows all week and this afternoon she joined her fellow 11 hopeful acts at the Wembley studios for a dress rehearsal.

Union J admitted earlier today that they had been a bit deflated after they first performed on the big stage and were in desperate need of a ‘pep talk’ from their mentor Louis Walsh afterwards and it seems that Poole was a bit ‘overwhelmed’ too.

She tweeted her followers this afternoon saying:

“Today has been soooo awesome! Wow!! I really did get overwhelmed seeing the stage for the first time… #unreal #exited”

The singer signed off the micro blogging website tonight writing:

“Nearly time!!! One more sleep!! I can not wait till tomo !!! @TheXFactor !!!”

We can’t wait either!
