Carolynne Poole has admitted that she was really upset when she was eliminated from The X Factor last night.

The 32 year old singer was voted off the ITV show, after just one live performance in the series, and subsequently finding herself in the bottom two sing off with Rylan Clark.

Speaking on The Xtra Factor the brunette beauty told Caroline Flack that she had a bit of a weep backstage, admitting:

“I’ve had a cry so I’m alright.”

Poole insisted that she was expecting to go home, so the revelation that she polled the lowest amount of public votes and would be going home didn’t shock her too much. She added:

“I was [expecting to leave] you know, I woke up this morning and said to Mel ‘I think it’s going to be me. I just have that gut feeling.’”

“It’s the X Factor and it’s not just about the singing. I think all of us kind of thought if any of us went up against Rylan in the sing off, whether you’re a singer or not, you’re going to get the boot. He’s Rylan.”

On Saturday night’s show Carolynne took on Nicki Minaj’s ‘Starships’ as part of the heroes themed evening and put a country twist on the pop / rap track.

She knew it was risky at the time and thinks it might have led to her downfall.

“I know the UK don’t really get country music like America does,” she confessed, adding:

“I took a bit of a risk making a pop song a country song but it’s what I wanted to do.

“Maybe they wouldn’t have liked me anyway, I don’t know.”

It’s onwards and upwards for Carolynne but some of the other X Factor contestants have months to go before the competition ends.

When asked who she thinks can win and who she is backing to take the crown, Poole said:

‘I really like a few of them…..Lucy Spraggan….’
