X Factor 2012: Cheryl Cole says she felt Simon Cowell’s ghost at Gary Barlow’s judges houses

Cheryl Cole is sure she felt an other wordly presence when she filmed judges houses with Gary Barlow in an old English stately home last weekend.

The ‘Promise This’ hitmaker was a last minute addition to the final audition stage of the X Factor and it had been believed that Robbie Williams would be the one assisting his Take That pal. However Cheryl flew in by helicopter rather unexpectedly and later told reporters that she definitely felt the presence of a ghost while choosing between Gary’s final singers.

The duo were working with the hopefuls at 16th-century stately Boughton House, Northamptonshire, when they were struck down by the heebie jeebies.

Gary Barlow revealed that he was definitely creeped out by the spooky venue at times and told Metro:

“It’s a beautiful house and we were lucky to have gorgeous sunny weather all weekend. But I tell you what, as soon as it got dark, it did become quite creepy. There were parts of the house that went really cold even though it had been hot outside – and there were some pretty weird creaks and groans going on.”

“I didn’t actually see anything but there was definitely a weird atmosphere – the girls felt it more than the boys, maybe they’re more in tune with the paranormal than we are.”

Xtra Factor presenter Caroline Flack revealed that while she is normally skeptical about such goings on, she definitely felt something grab her bum and insisted that she saw an ‘apparition in an antique mirror’.

The leggy beauty added:

‘I don’t actually believe in ghosts – I’m a real sceptic but I felt something brush past me and there was nobody else in the room. There is definitely something creepy going on in that house.’

Cheryl wasn’t phased though, she’s come up against worse things than an old ghost and she revealed that she was happy to come face to face with ‘the ghost of Simon Cowell’.

The only problem with her theory is that last time we checked, the music mogul was alive and well and living it up in America. In fact he was spotted by the world’s press taking to the red carpet for the launch of The X Factor USA in LA last night.

So either it definitely wasn’t Simon, or his ghost made the transatlantic trip to fool us all yesterday.
