X Factor 2012: Ella Henderson ‘gutted’ by Nicole Scherzinger’s criticism
Ella Henderson has admitted that she was ‘gutted’ when Nicole Scherzinger blasted her X Factor performance last night.
The 16 year old singer took on Bring Me To Life by Evanescence on the ITV show, as part of Halloween week and while Gary Barlow loved the rendition, Nicole blasted the talented teen saying:
“This was my least favourite performance of yours. It was just the wrong key all the way. I felt like the chorus is so epic and it was anti climatic. I feel like you have a bigger range and it could have had more depth.”
Speaking afterwards on The Xtra Factor, Ella admitted that she was saddened by the critique and said:
“I did feel a bit gutted, only because I have really warmed to Nicole in this competition.”
However, Henderson revealed that after weeks of being the show golden girl and the bookies favourite, she was half expecting some criticism for a change and added:
“I kind of was expecting criticism to come my way now and I’m going to take it on board and take the advice. That’s the exciting thing about this whole thing, getting the advice and rolling with it. So I’ll just have to take it.”
Ella found it weird that Nicole would pick at last night’s performance though, when she felt her one the week before was weaker. She continued:
“Out of all the performances I have done so far I would say last week was the one that I wasn’t as confident with.”

I’m so fed up of ponsers being kept on the show for the entertainment element……please, give me a break, havn’t we had enough tripe with Jedward. Get Rylan wotsisname offfff….Some really strong singers on the show this year. Great talented performance from young Ella…..Keep it up Ella, your a winner.
Nicole was 100% right about the performance! Everything she said was spot on.
To be honest, Ella sounds as though she didn’t agree with Nicole’s comments, which is dangerous. She’s very talented but not above critique.
I’m with you here. I’m hoping she wouldn’t get overconfident simply because she is really, really talented!
I totally agree. She DID murder the song. Looks like someone is getting a bit up herself…
Well Nicole was 100% right.But ella saying that ‘everyone’s entitled to their own opinion and I respect that’ does her no favours at all.Nicole Scherzinger is well respected as a great singer in the music industry worldwide and as a judge not only in this country but in the USA as well.Ella is now ‘making a rod for her own back’ as she is becoming aloof and talking down to Nicole as if Nicole’s judgement is worthless.Listening to Nicole is was perfectly clear to me Nicole knew the sound ,knew the pitch of the song and knew the climatic part of the song.Nicole had done all her homework and was 100% correct on her judgement. Ella has been studying at a music school away from home for the past few years and I see no reason why Ella should become so aloof at this point in the show.
