Gary Barlow has been very enthusiastic in his support for X Factor hopeful Christopher Maloney.

The 34 year old singer was eliminated from the ITV show by the Take That star back in judges houses but was later offered a lifeline when Barlow chose him as his wildcard contestant.

All week the public have been voting for either Chris, Amy Mottram, Times Red or Adam Burridge and the act with the most votes will win a place in the series tonight.

While Louis Walsh has already given up hope and admitted that he doesn’t think his act – Times Red – have a chance of making a comeback and Nicole Scherzinger barely mentioned Adam Burridge in her series of interviews on This Morning and Daybreak this week, Gary has been ferociously supporting Chris, pleading with fans during his TV appearances to vote for the talented singer.

He also appealed to his Twitter followers yesterday, tweeting:

“We need Christopher Maloney with us ! Keep voting please”

This morning, just before the voting lines closed, he put out one last plea for votes, adding:

“Only 1 hour left to vote for Christopher ! Come on gbarmy”

It sounds like Chris is so desperate to get abck that he’s even been voting for himself. He tweeted his followers saying:

“WOW, just cast my last vote as its midday! What will be will be, thank u so so much, ur all amazing people an im so proud of u! Love u all x”

He also promised his fans that he would do them proud if he wins tonight, writing:

“Whatever happens, ur love,help an support has guided me thru. So thank u so very much, just dont wanna let u down. Na nite, sed my prayers x”

“Ps just to let you know, the only nerves i have now are good nerves! I wont let you down if i get thru i promise, teamGB bin helpin me x”
