X Factor 2012: Gary Barlow thought Rylan Clark went Eurovision with Supremes Medley (VIDEO)
Rylan Clark and Motown….we couldn’t imagine how it would go before the former model took to the X Factor stage this evening.
We are used to seeing the controversial singer performing dance mashups, cheesy modern anthems and even the odd ballad or two but when we heard he would be taking on a Motown classic this evening we couldn’t even begin to fathom a guess at what sort of material he would attempt.
Before taking to the stage Rylan revealed that he would be singing a Supremes Medley, which started with ‘Baby Love.’
He began up in the audience and sang as he walked down the stairs towards the stage and for once, we could properly hear what he was singing and it wasn’t too bad.
It all got a little dancy when Rylan broke into ‘Stop In The Name Of Love’ and while the production was definitely fun and the dancers were colourful to say the least, it’s weird to say it, but it’s all getting a little bit predictable for us.
We wish Clark would give up on the mashups just for one week.
LOUIS WALSH: If I’m really honest and you know I like you, I don’t think Motown Rylan style really worked. Nicole…..I didn’t enjoy it that much, not as much as I normally do.
TULISA: Good to hear some more of your vocals tonight, it wasn’t your most exciting performance but it was nice to see a different side.
GARY BARLOW: Rylan once tonight is one thing, but twice in one night. Quite Eurovision that but actually I loved the visuals you used, quite creative that. But as I said, too Eurovisiony for me.
NICOLE SCHERZINGER: To me you are a breath of fresh air. It’s colourful, alive and there is so much life to every performance.
Did you enjoy Rylan’s performance tonight? Do you think he’ll be safe on tomorrow’s results show? Leave your comments below….
