X Factor 2012: Gary Barlow ‘to launch former ABBA star’s career’
X Factor judge Gary Barlow is reportedly hoping to relaunch ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog’s career.
Take That star Gary is said to have written two tracks for the Swedish musician’s new album which will be her first new material in 25 years.Gary has apparently even duetted with Agnetha on one of the tracks and the pair are reportedly hoping the song will be a chart hit.
A source told the Daily Star: “Gary is one of the UK’s most successful songwriters so it makes sense for Agnetha to call in the big guns. It’s a great mix of old and new together in one duet.”
Gary was introduced to Agnetha when he was in Sweden recently by mutual friend Jorgen Elofsson, a songwriter who has written for the likes of Britney Spears and Kelly Clarkson.
Agnetha first embarked on a solo career shortly after ABBA split up in 1983 but she hardly released any music throughout the 90s.
And the new project may be a welcome relief for Gary after it emerged last week that his label Future Records allegedly went bust.
A source told the Daily Mirror: “Gary was naturally upset. He’d signed a few great bands who are destined for success but the problem was he also had a few turkeys.”
However, the star insists he simply closed the company himself as he wanted to spend more time with his family.
He told The Sun: “It’s been a very difficult decision but it came down to time.
“I’ve had a lot going on recently and I want to spend more time with my family.”
