X Factor 2012: Geek ‘Candyman’ Curtis Golden irritates Mel B but the other judges love him!

Curtis Golden is one of the more surprising acts featured on tonight’s X Factor episode.

The chubby singer reminded us a little of Craig Colton when we first saw him on screen, with his unkempt hair and constant chuckling. The self confessed ‘geek’ told producers that he loves video games, comics and collects sci fi figures and has never ever had a girlfriend before…..awww.

Of course we shouldn’t have been surprised when he could sing, but we were.

Before delivering a pretty changed up rendition of catchy song ‘Candyman’, Curtis admitted that he was a huge Spice Girls fan, however Mel B – who was guest judging for the day – was in a terrible mood and he was slightly worried about how she would react to his song choice.

He was right to be concerned, because even though we, the audience, and the other judges loved his guitar playing and his raspy vocals, she found the whole thing just a little too ‘irritating’ for her taste.

The ‘say it as it is’ singer ranted:

‘I didn’t like it! You were overdoing the comedy thing…I found it irritating.’

Louis Walsh couldn’t have disagreed more and said:

‘Curtis I wasn’t expecting that. You remind me of Peter Kay….. in a good way.’

Tulisa laughed about finally finding a ‘talented nerd.’and Gary Barlow said:

‘Good audition, well done.’

The whole incident prompted the other judges to rename Mel as ‘Grumpy Spice’ which only seemed to make her more annoyed!

Tune into the X Factor tonight to see Curtis’ full audition and whether or not he made it through to bootcamp. Listen to him sing and tell us if you think he deserves a place. Leave your comments below…
